They could have done all that as an easter egg. I mean, at the beginning of Hunchback of Notre Dame, you can see several Disney characters.

Disney might have used rotoscoping to draw these scenes and, perhaps by accident (perhaps not), they used the exact same videos for rotoscoping some scenes as the other movies also did.

Check Wikipedia, the most reliable source on the net , Robin Hood went into production on a very small and tight budget, so they went with tracing older films to save money and bring the film to cinemas.
