The reasons i see behind the crashes. Illeagal Hardline lane switches & Overtaking (main cause), Speeding, and Bumber riding. Lookin at the Licence Plate it's somewhere in europe... Figures.

Some of the crashes has to have with a slippery road.
You can clearly see some cars just loosing their grip in normal speeds.

And to you that said something about Europe. Do you really wanna compare statistics from accidents in Europe in general and USA? >:)

apparantly water often leaks through from the river above and freezes in the winter months with temperatures as low as -38 celsius

hence i think all the crashes

#20, was waiting for someone to ask! There's a barrier in front of the opening which it seemed to come from but he (she?) must be in one hell of a rush to crash through that barrier into traffic.

Credit to the bus driver for almost going through that ordeal unscathed!
