I've always wondered... why do these rally races have a passenger?

#1 I am not sure, and I am positive someone will correct me, but it is so give directions on the road ahead. Because they are driving so fast they don't know how fast to take the corners so the passenger would say "Medium left, 60k/h" Or something. Not sure exactly what they say but I think that is the general jist of it.

#1 , #2 the co-driver has the so called roadbook, in which he wrote all corners and special landmarks the driver told him on the exploration run.

there are diffrent techniques. but most use a number (often a gear) for the corner, beside with optional "openes" "closes"

for an example

#2 You're right on. It's the Navigator and driver. Very important to have! There's no joy-riding passengers as far as i know...Obviously, its a very dangerous sport!
What I don't get is all the Idiots that stand on the edge of the road in some spots (I know its for the thrill) but you might as well wear a shirt that says "PLEASE KILL ME NOW".. Just kidding :P

woot another Estonian video :D

No but this particular stage was actually a no rehearse stage, meaning that no notes, no directions..
The video is actually 10 minutes long, up on youtube, and in those 10 minutes at least half of the cars drive off the road and at least 4 more cars end up in the lake :D

No casualties though =)

I think the driver had the wrong passenger...you don't just take along the first guy who yells, "SHOTGUN!".

#3 ... or a new driver. I'm pretty sure the passenger (first one out) kinda said "ASSHOLE" as he removed his helmet...
