In this installment we see supercooled water to -21C / -6F and pour it our into a bowl. It pours out as a liquid and turns to slush, forming rope like peaks.

yea it is water. if you super heat or super cool pure water it stays in liquid form until you disturb it. if you super heat pure water in the microwave to a point above boiling and then disturb it, it can "explode". dvh is a dumbass
Pimpinabox is correct; this is an interesting and fun property of water. You can try it out for yourself if you have access to a light beer (corona works well) and a deep freeze. Put a bottle (standing upright) into the freezer and let it stay there for about 3 hours. Make sure it doesn't get bumped and that the freezer doesn't vibrate or it could ruin it; anyways, after the 3 hours are up if all has gone well, it should appear unfrozen. Take it out and give it a good tap (not too hard, don't want to break it obviously) against a surface and you should be able to watch the crystals forming and spreading through the beer. It's fun! And then you can enjoy a beer slushy to boot. ![]()
i was about to say... and iodide solution would be yellow... and i have done the exploding water thing, its fun, at the expense of the cup it is in. try it with destilled or de-mineralised water.

Well, it's not water but some iodine or potassium stuff. And it's not freezing but very hot (the crystals), like 60 ËšC.
