Oh no, oh no, Lions are wild animals, predators even, why do they all scream like that? They could have seen some real wildlife for once ![]()

I know it's a cute little deer, but lions eating deers happens every day in the wild...so why people are screaming like that?! The lion didn't kill the deer because he doesn't know how to. He must have been in captivity since he was born. I hate zoos.
Well, I think that, because the lion has been in a zoo, it responds to human commands and intention. All of those people (well, most of them probably) were calling out for the lion not to eat the deer. Every time they did, the lion was distracted so the deer got away.
You're right too, Brandy. If the lion would have been hungry, that deer would have been TOAST.
@ nuntchakou, actually that is a female lion. Also lion eating deer only occurs in India and even then it can be rare as deer are very fleet of foot. In Africa there are no deer, they are related but are in fact called gazelle.

So, after the deer got into the water; where is it going to go from there? It is not like there is an escape route from the artificial river.

Funny how all those people start yelling for the deer, if they see it on national geographic they think its cool, but in real life they act all shocked about it...

I would have jumped into the water to save the baby deer...
@ nuntchakou, happy to share it after all, "Knowledge is power". Anyways, you should drink in all the scraps one can, lest you fall into ignorance.

I don't think the lion wasn't hungey, i rekon it didn't know what to do with live prey... probably brought up in captivity being 'hand' fed. It almost looked like it was trying to play with the deer.
Some people are stupid alright. Maybe the people wanted the deer to get away because they understood that zoos are not actually natural environments, and the lions get fed everyday and are tended to by humans. Whereas in their natural environment it is about survival and oftentimes starvation. Compare this to what happens in nature? Geeze-us.

For sure the lion was playing. The claws weren't fully extended which would have shredded the deer's hide. No neck bite when the deer was initially caught. Although that could be an learned technique. But definitely, this was just amusement for the young lion whose instinct told it that it should have control of the deer but it didn't know what for. ![]()

I second that. I hate zoos for creating disturbed animals like this lion. The principle is great, I support it, being a biologist I also think species preservation is worth making some compromises but still
poor lion.

I'm glad the deer got away, but the lion was doing what her instincts told her to do, and that was hunt and stalk and kill. Fortunately the lioness wasn't all that hungry, or the deer would have been killed right away.
