Stupid? His bravery and contributions were necessary for man's flight into space. It appears that the spirit of curiosity and discovery is not a universal trait in humanity. The absence of that spirit within man, we still wouldn't be using fire. However, in my opinion the documentary would be better without the redundancy.

During his freefall, one of the gloves to the suit, opened up and depressurized his arm. it became so "inflated" that the suit forced a patern on his arm, it became normal at the end of the day.
And the knowledge of how low pressure and lack of protection from it, comes from his jump.
you dont see people like that anymore. taking such a risk for knowledge

Wow, congrats to the people posting Boards of Canada, they have some of my favourite albums, and as for that video, it is my al time favourites.
I guess the relevance of posting this video now is because someone in the last week has said they want to beat his record and go from even higher and actually beat the speed of sound. He was the same guy who flew over the British Channel with the metal wings.

While we're at it..Felix Baumgartner plans to break this 50 year-old record in april this year, and the interesting fact is that Joe Kittinger (man in this video) is in his team as co-ordinator. Felix will be jumping from 36.576 meters (120.000 feet). Good luck!
