The sound was exactly 10 seconds after each blast so therefore distance = 2 Miles I thought it would be further!

#6 Regularly, explosives are detonated to destroy the explosives after they have expired (shelf life). This is the safest way to dispose of expired materials. Often it is also used to train explosives personnel in real world application. Anyway, the explosives become unstable and unpredictable after long periods of time and must be destroyed for safety and reliability reasons... it is not just for fun, but what's the harm in enjoying your work?

I wouldn't mind being present (at a safe distance) at such an event just once in my life.

Until recent years, the Corvette was nothing more than an icon muscle car. No good in the corners but fast as hell off the line as well as top end. Recent improvements have transformed the Corvette into a proper sports car, able to finally correct the lack of cornering inherit to the car. The Corvette has definitely improved by leaps and bounds in recent years. No argument there...
