Nice display of engineering artwork.

#(removed comment) i agree with you, but why are you writing in portuguese?
That is thinking outside the box! If someone would ask me how to get a circular gear to spin around a rectangular gear i would have said it was impossible. Now I know better.

#4: Why not?
Ás vezes penso que este site é nacional mas o pessoal não sabe, e andamos todos a falar inglês porque sim...
Comentem em português, só para saber quanto somos. ![]()

O gajo que fez isto é um génio do caralho

#11 many engineers and designers are still using CRT monitors
, here is the answer why:

Automatically and categorically downvoting comments that aren't in English or at least don't have a translation. Last I checked, Snotr was an English-language website. It's snotr.com NOT snotr.br or snotr.pt
Not sayin' that English is superior, but using it here is only a matter of common courtesy. I woudn't go onto a Portuguese site and start yammerin away in English either. ![]()
#1 Maybe the guy likes asian music and since it is his video he decided to put asian music in it so who cares about the music? It's not like hes trying to put up a mood or "athmosphere" like spielberg would do huh?
#11 Quote a 5-year old article why don't you. You don't think LCD technology has progressed hugely in the past 5 years? We have incredibly accurate 8-bit IPS panels with 178 degree viewing angles. 30" screens with 2650x1600 resolutions... something you couldn't even dream about on a CRT!

Se levamos com pub em português pq é q n havemos de falar tuga crl?!
#20 and #22 no, things are still the same ( more or less ) if you are a designer and you need realistic color display ![]()
#25 A matte LCD IPS panel is very accurate. CRT's were far better than earlier LCDs, but LCDs have really come on, and high end IPS panels are incredibly accurate.
Let's not forget CRTs have a huge sheet of glass over them causing reflections and a glossy effect!
At the beginning of the video, there has a chinese newspaper under the gear.
So, because he is chinese, he choice a china folk song....."MoLiHua(Jasmine)".
And I can see a word on the newspaper: ??(Nanjing)
Did you guys know Nanjing? ![]()

-as an American Industrial'Designer, -i can advise that the two initial elliptical-gears indeed serve a useful purpose of obtaining an accelerating/decelerating output from a constant-speed driver (right-side gear); -however, the other examples are merely demonstrating interesting mechanical-decor which have no particular useful purpose other than 'artistic curiosity', --which is fascinating to the layman in that it appears rather goofy to one's mind's-eye... -INVENTECH / SanDiego, Calif.
#13 whats that? if you discover any bugs you should describe the symptoms here so that admins can try and find out what causing them.

#27 are you a designer?
Well, I have new 24" LCD purchased this year, it was damn expensive, and after all settings and tweaking, I still can't get colors suitable for any print design job, on the other hand my old 19" CRT is perfect, because I don't need "incredibly accurate" colors, I need realistic colors...
But I won't argue with you, we are off topic anyway ![]()
