#(removed comment) lets say 1 bit every 1,5 inch, 1000ft makes 12000 inches, and that would be 8000 bits or 1000 bytes on that roll...so yeah close to 1 full kilobyte
still a fun machine
still a fun machine

Can't wait till he brings out the dual-core version or better yet an i7 turning machine.

As shown in this video, a Turing machine is a device that manipulates symbols contained on a strip of tape (in this case 1 and 0). Despite its simplicity, a Turing machine can used to simulate any computer algorithm, and it is particularly useful in explaining (bit by bit) the functions of a CPU inside of a computer. It is a concept described by Alan Turing in 1937, and it's still used today in schools/universities as a teaching tool.

#13 you are so wrong. each day more and more aspects of our lives become ones and zeros (this means digitalization). anything you do electronically comes down to ones and zeros. thing is, its just not ones and zeros flat, the ones and zeros are more like conditions to the computer, much like a switch.

A Turing machine is a theoretical device and it's concepts are at the base of every computer ever made. Probably without it you wouldn't have the chance to say the video sux
This is a implementation of that theoretical device and dull as it may seem it has a set of bulletproof principles that make it simple but all powerful. And I am not joking.

#1 In Cognitive Science, it is used as a analogy for Computational Theory of Mind. It says you could simulate any thought with such a machine and therefore the theory suggests that your mind is equal to procedures in your brain. So the ideal Turing Machine should have a mind!

Turing machine? I'd have called it a boring machine. Put it in a package and mail it back to 1966, where it would be interesting.
