A WHSO's dream... I can't believe they got away with that, no safety barrier next to a 3m+ drop. That guy probably sued the pants off that show and network, and rightfully so.

I agree with #11. This guy cheated an entire country messing up the constitution, the laws and everything. The real problem with us Romanians is that we're too divided and way to tolerant/credulous towards almost anything and there's no unity between us. So these "species" of politicians benefit from it and here we are: Romania - the land of no choice.

#(removed comment) Ceausescu was a bloody communist dictator and did his nasty things for a long time. He had a trial, found guilty and sentenced to death. The sentence was carried out via the firing squad.
I guess the electric chair would have made more sense to you or prolly some lethal injections. And isn't that like common practice in tons of states in your magnificent USAnumber1 country?

#30 Hey I think they did the right thing shooting him AND his wife.Don't you realize the CIA was behind the overthrow of that despot? We were all rooting for the Romanians during that time.The downfall of communism is always a good thing.
In this country we ought to be executing more politicians who violate our Constitution. Firing squad is the most economical if you ask me.

USAnumber1 with all the respect CIA had NOTHING to do with Romania or Ceausescu, mainly because they didn't care. Ceausescu was caught by romanians while he tried to flee the country, he was caught, judjed and exterminated...and that was not because of the comunism(comunism is not negative in some countries)but because he abused the people of this country and starved them, he abused power, he wanted to be feared and respected by all(but he chose the wrong way)so don't try to praise your country or the CIA for helping us because it's not true at all, in fact it's 1 of the biggest lies i've heard,next time check a history book or actually try to ask someone that lived during that period of time in Romania. Inform yourself before you talk

#31 If your "AND" is implying sarcasm I must add that his wife was the second most important and influential person after her husband. She had a very important part of the blame and was also tried for her wrongdoings alongside her husband.
I'm not all that familiar with where the pressure to overthrow the government came from, neither did I mention anything on the matter in my previous post.
I'm sure every democratic country was cheering for us at the time, including the US but I hardly find it a reason to blame the CIA.

Unlike you I have read and heard many versions about it but most important my dad was there, he saw how it all hapend and there is nothing more true like the truth you see, please read some books and you will see that CIA had absolutely no connections with Romania. If you don't want to read at least don't give the CIA some credits that it doesn't deserve. Behind the scenes romanian people made gatherings, gatherings wich if discovered could put the people in them in great danger(usually they and they'r families were killed)1 day they all united and Ceausescu saw he has no chance agains an entire nation and fleed the country...atleast he tried(epic fail as you may say). Do not give me the CIA behind the scenes cr.ap because i am pretty sure it's not true, me and another 19kk romanians(the people who actually suffered because of this)

#38 Maybe you should look-up the term "covert operations" and then you will understand why your daddy did not know about foreign influence in inciting the people to take action.
In the US the KGB was financing and supporting any radical group that could stir-up trouble. They were even supporting Martin Luther King ( he probably did not realize it at the time ) because his civil rights campaign was a dividing force in this country.
It is scary to think of all the covert stuff that happens in this world.
