wow amazing vid!

It'd be cool if when he switches it on he'll receive like a 500 Petabyte flash disk with
1.cure for aging
2.5$ solution for global warming
3.INCREASE the Size of Your Member NOW!

I do hope that in the future there won't be many trekkies that'll be too afraid to violate the "temporal prime directive"

how old is this clip???
i've heard that scientists nowadays know that IF time travel is possible, then it's only possible to travel to the future.

The narrator sounds the same as from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, was this an extra episode?

Von Daniken explained this theory many years ago in "Odyssey of the Gods", but religious leaders and scientists alike ridiculed him. Now it seems he was right!
It is so easy to put down the thoughts of men when those thoughts are new and not fully understood. But give a man a doctrate and suddenly it is believed. How many scientists and leaders have laughed at UFO's. Stephen Hawking says they exist and suddenly everyone listens.
Amazing!!!

Traveling through time, imo, is possible to the future, but not to the past, due to paradoxes.

#14 do you mean ''Granpa' paradox? But what if you travel trough time and do not/can not great a paradox?
Picture of MiNo40 achievements

+6 17. MiNo commented 14 years ago

I'll explain to you why this method of time travel won't work:

We're on planet Earth, which revolves around the Sun at approximately 30 km/hr in an irregular, oval trajectory. This means that a position on Earth will never be on the same position in the plane of the universe. Let's just say that this device successfully twists space; what will result is a stretch of "twisted space" that follows the trajectory of Earth's trajectory. The device in the near future will be far from the spatial position of the device today.

Since the device must remain in an exact position in the universe, I would suggest that this device be built on the platform of a non-moving (which means not affected by Earth's and the Sun's gravitational field) space station.

The earth is flat. Heretic! You shall be burnt alive.

Go back in time and see what people said back "then". Go check out most basic things that were laughable back "then". Now imagine what people will say thousands of years from now.

Just posting "this is how it works" is just rubbish, anything can and will happen, given time.

What would happen i wonder if they built one......and used it to send a duplictae machine back in time? would they then be able to " leapfrog" ever further backwards ?

Hmmm why would anyone from future want to sand anything back to past, wouldn't that create entire new future changed because that information/object or something?

Time is a temporary thing given to mankind. "When the seventh trumpet sounds time will be no more."
Thats from The book of Revelations.
Picture of NotFirst33 achievements

Time is a physical property. It is not uniform.

It is subject to mass, acceleration, gravity, among other things. (spacial dimensions and what not). Which makes it subject to to laws of entropy as well. (Special Relativity-Length, mass, velocity and time are relative to velocity of the observers)-backs up #17
Most people think of time as linear. Like I am standing on a street corner watching a parade go by.

If you were outside of the restrictions of the four dimensions (directly knowable) that we live in, you would not be subject to time. It could be manipulated.(the bending and folding of space-time) However, I don't know of anyone who can remove themselves from these restrictions. Unless there was supernatural intervention I.E.: the other six (indirectly knowable) dimensions??? There is support that shows that the other dimensions are superior to 1-4. For example, the 3rd dimension can manipulate the 2nd and it is superior. The 6th to the 5th-1st, and so on. As a crud example, you can bend or fold a piece of paper, to Mr Flat, on the piece of paper (2nd dimension), it would be confusing. Outside of his understanding of reality.

"People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between the past, the present, and the future, is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." -Albert Einstein

You can look back in time, and you can go into the future. But you cannot go to the past, and you cannot look into the future. :(|)

I still want some future coffee though!

So light is like a spoon in coffee???

If so, i'll be twisting space and stepping back in time at around 9am this morning.

Don't forget to remember tomorrow!

And light is both a particle and a wave.
Black holes are only theoretical, all we can do is see a dark spot. It is good science to assume what it is, it is bad science to say what it is. just a thought.

Where is my space-time-light coffee? (new drink at Starbucks)

Traveling through time is impossible. It is against the very definition of "time". Period. Everything else, including this guy's talk is bullshit. Just messing with viewers' minds. If it is how he says it is - why doesn't he do it? Instead of talking shit.
