This was good until about 1:58 when he starts talking about the lizard "mimicking" the beetle. Does he really think that a lizard can think about it and then change the way it looks so it can imitate a beetle? Make-up please! And in very hot climates many lizards walk with belly raised off the sand to keep cooler.
Attenborough is good but he lets his imagination run wild sometimes.

I want to see if that lizard can fool a mongoose for real or if he just gets eaten. Maybe on the next episode Sir David can show us that result.

#9 yeah I guess its just a coincidence like the patterns and the colors, and the place it hunts for food and the walking (just raising the lower part of the abdomen but not so much the thorax) and that lizard can totally kick that mongoose ass without imitating the beetle, probably too much glaucoma medicine from Sir Attenborough and too little experience as a naturalist.

man these are SOOO interesting... is this from that "Life" BBC thing? (not the one narrated by oprah)
BTW- Snotr............achievements?? are you serious? where's all the HD vids? (i know it's been brought up before but don't know where to see why it hasn't been implemented) don't like to be negative but that's a good way to kill snotr. (completely IMO)

#9 #12 it depends... instantaneously probably not unless the lizard has evolved chromatophores like chameleons and cuttlefish. however, if the lizard has coexisted for many generations with the beetle, it is very well possible for the lizard to evolve tactical traits from the beetle for self defense purposes. i remember watching a few documentaries 10 or so years ago that described animals that did something similar. i cant tell u what they were off hand but i can tell you one example: the stick bug, which evolved the appearance of a stick for self defense camouflage
#5 i upload animal vids once in a while

Would be awesome if there was a beetle that could moonwalk and all the defenceless lizards would mimic this walking pattern in the wild. You'd be some tourist walking around and all you see is random animals doing moonwalks for reasons you haven't yet figured out.
