Question is how much electricity is used for that and how much oil/coal was used to produce that - all hail the electric car...

For high speed stats, design & history of the car:

#1 it takes 80 lithium-ion batteries

#1 - Probably less than any other random car of the same size. Also... It might have been nuclear power. Think about the resources the electric car is GOING TO save Which is much cleaner and cost less lives to make. So yes all hail the electric car.

#4 it's cleaner until you have to dispose of 80 BATTERIES!

#1 yes, you are right, since many countries now days have solar and wind power plants, those electric cars will surely burn the sun and wind resources in no time :D

we have no future if those electric cars replace clean and resource free cars we are using now :D

#(removed comment) The batteries in hybrid cars now have 8-10 year guarantee, they last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles, probably a whole lot longer, and they can be fully recycled.

#5 - Those will be disposed of no problem. Either via recycling or we can just blast them into space. Or dump them where the nuclear waste goes... Disposal is not a problem because the batteries will be usable for many years. With the current speed of technology, batteries are greatly improved every year and super batteries are on the way. I think there is much to earn in the electric car still.

Its ugly its useless and why on earth are people obsessed with 0-60 and top speed when you can only drive at the allowed speed ?

#12 your right in a way but the point is people by prius's and crap like that becasue its a fad and they think there helping the enviorment when the technology is only infant theres no point in having all this electric cars when a massive % of the power used to charge them is still from coal/oil based plants

#12 Dump them where the nuclear waste goes. Splendid idea, let others worry about it someday. Idiot.

Lithium batts can be recycled. Great car, odd wheel count though :P

#1 I think you're right... most of the time people think that electricity is created only by water. But it's also created by petrol, gaz, the sun, wind and nuclear etc. So it would be a good solution to sells electric cars, but it would be good too, to think about which kind of energy will provide to our futures car the electricity they need ? :)

#2 No cars can be better than the Bat Car >:)

What we need to do is reduce the use of vehicles, because it doesn't matter what they burn, they all use energy. Something that worries me is the mindset that wind and solar power is "free". The energy that we take from the sun or the wind was doing something before we intercepted it, and we don't know what removing that energy could do to our environment. On the present small scale that we harvest power from these sources, there is likely very little effect, but can we start to change our weather patterns by removing so much energy from the winds in California (for example) that it changes the weather in the midwest??? What about the ground beneath massive solar fields that no longer gets heated by the sun???

Who will investigate this? Likely no one, until it is too late, just like all the rest of our environmental problems
