In the near future quadrotors will pick you up and bring you to any place you like, if the battery does not fail that is.

I swear it's a true story:
I was working at my desk and I saw the same thing near my head, I was wearing headphones, I was like (what the F is that) when I turned back, I saw my boss experimenting it with the guys that invented it ... he was bullying us all playing with the remote controller... damn boss. we laughed so much that day.

#8 yes it's a great potential application but... what works for small structures does not necesarely work for big;
real helicopters and RC, you can never do with a real heli what some skilled RC pilot can do...
it's a question of weight to power ratio and what stress the structure can take.
like beetles or insects with exoskeletons in general have a maximum size;
if someone out there is an engineer maybe he could explain what the exponential structure strength has to be when augmenting the size.
so right now i don't understand the purpose of those little machines beside what they're demonstrating (and it's fun to watch)
