Umm, they don't actually show any film of them landing safely.
There could be a big of dead snakes :D

lolz #5 Try and throw an ant from a tower..you think it will land safely? I guess the air friction is so high that the landing for them is like you jumping from 1m high :P

OK, these look like controlled falling snakes to me. Not flying snakes.

Maybe this is how they got on that plane.?? >:)

(i) #9 i saw a documentary on this before.. they tested and filmed the snakes and studied the results on a computer with 3d models.. the snake flattens its body to create a natural airfoil when the snake moves while in air... as a result, there is some minimal aerodynamic lift that enables the snake to glide further..

so actually, in a mechanical/scientific sense... yes the snake does fly (sort of) ;)


#5 in the documentary it does land safe, many many times

actually, they only used one snake for all the times that they filmed it flying off the stick

One of the guys I work with is deathly afraid of snakes. I can't wait to tell him they can fly. >:)
