Air Show
Not only is the airplane unbelievable but the pilot is also taking g-forces between about +8 and -4.
The airplane is an Edge 540 manufactured in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
The engine is 540 cu. inches, 10.5:1 compression ratio, has a Cold Air induction System and is fuel injected , Barrett Precision Engines.
It makes 320 BHP at 2850 RPM and weighs 385 lbs. The airplane can fly inverted until it runs out of gas.
The pilot is Kirby Chambliss - he is a Red Bull pilot and a Captain for Southwest Airlines.

Amazing..!
But lets just say I wouldnt want my son or my dad to these kinds of dangerous stuff! The amount of smoke etc coming out of engine makes it seem like its bound to go wrong.

WW2 airfights would had been much more interesting if the pilots would had been skilled like this guy
10 monkey heads for him!!!! ![]()
Flying out to LA on Southwest next month. If hes my pilot I seriously hope he remembers which plane he's in ;-)
Only question i have is , its a 8.8L Motor and it only produces 320bhp ? Still amazing stunt show , music in the background did it no justice
#3 its not like pilots in the 40's didnt have skills, they just never had the same power-weight ratio.

haha nice moves. With stunts like that, people wouldn't know something was going wrong until he hit the ground.
Amazing skills. The smoke is only there for show, its not because the engine is seizing or anything. He's probably using an additive that produces it.
#6 that's 320bhp @ 2850rpm's... not 6000+
Propeller aircraft need to make power at lower rpm's. If the prop spins too fast the aircraft loses power.
#9 You are right, the smoke is there for show but it is not an additive that is ran through engine. Smoke canisters are used in airshow aircraft that are usually located in the rear of the plane and can be turned on and off at will.
