Lucky for the other guys that it fell to the left not the right!!!! the ones on the bridge/gantry would be flattened!!!!!

0:54 The beam is starting to swing, adding incredible downward force, at the same time the beam is now so close to the stabelizer (Red white thing) that it is alone holding the force. Why the ground caved in could be a minor sinkhole or that the force simply pushed the earth towards the slope, where there is the least resistance.

The cranes are set-up on man-made embankments that were unable to support the dynamic load and weight-shift of the bridge section. When the load swung,the ground gave way. At 0:15 you can see the ground starting to open-up and I bet the guy on the radio is talking about it.
