#5 It's the same language source...Slavic countries have similar languages..Im shure you know that..So its not so bad that he had some role models of his own...He did a good job making Serbian language easier than the most of other world languages...

Well I guess a universal simplified spelling system would be heaven for idiots who still can't differentiate between THERE, THEIR and THEY'RE.

Glad my language is written as it is spoken
... however i must say.... french is way, way ... way worst than english at this chapter!
My mother language is also from balto-slavic language group and we speak as we write (98%). As a child I did not get why cat is speled with ''c'' and now I do not get eat eather. And i dont like that english language is so foggy, the words horribly ryme with each other.

Wow... he got all this from his 102 years experience? im impressed.
English may have pretty irregular spelling/pronunciation. But..... compare it to languages which have gender of nouns, a case system with declination of nouns, verbs which are extremely irregular in their conjugations etc etc. English is much easier to learn as a second language than most.
I'm a teacher of English and I learned French and Portuguese in the past. I'm trying to learn Polish now and it's a mind-shattering mess of irregular grammatical nonsense. Polish is also a speak-as-you-write language for the most part, but that doesn't make it easy to learn at all.
Gotta love Finnish - a language where every vowel is always pronounced as it's pronounced in the alphabet and where no such things as silent letters exist.

English is tough stuff: http://www.frivolity.com/teatime/Songs_and_Poems/english_is_tough_stuff.html
#19 You have a valid point but if you consider that the time spend memorizing the spelling of word is actually lost for you learning the language.

#19 is right. Apart from the pronunciation/spelling inaccuracies, English is relatively easy to learn and understand, which is why I find it easier to write in English than in German. But this guy still has a point and it was presented in a great way. I enjoyed it to the very end.

Why is English so Dum! I'm glad it's my first language, it seems like it would be a pain learning it.
