That's f*cked up. It's normal that they can spark. But not that much! There's a lot of energy going to waste and there is something breaking down very slowly. You can see that on the sparks that fly of. Those are very small pieces of a metal :)

Btw, That sparking is dangerous to your eyes if you continue to watch it in person. Watching this video won't hurt your eyes though.

Hi there,

the sparking is caused from the ice on the wire. You can see that they drive with all pantographs lifted.
