This only applies to people who *wants* to fit in. Basically the same person type who would get a breast implant because everyone else got it. They have no mind of their own. Others control what these people do and when they do it.

I would go so far to say that these people have been "brainwashed" over a good length of their life. When i use the word brainwash i don't mean like in the movies where it happens instantly. What i mean is a very long time of breaking a person down - this is done by media mostly. It's very effective during your younger years like being in school.

What other people think forms these people into an image they believe will appease others. The fun part is that it goes back and forth between the people.

There is no "cure" for this and sadly it will get worse the further into the future we get.

Who you will be is not your choice. It's what others want you to become that will turn you into who you are. This is the typical "brainwash" victim.

#3 there is no cure for a society but there is a treatment for persons: stop watching TV, or listening to radio. Reading is more liberating way of acquiring information although still susceptible to conforming but at much lesser degree.

There is a social price for being able to think by yourself but most people just don't want to pay it.

#3 Bjorn borg used to be the same. Everybody showed their underpants. In my opinion it was crazy, but you wouldn't see many girls here not showing their underpants. Showing your underpants was taboo before, but due to group presure it became almost mandatory.
You are saying that only a few people didn't chose to wear their underwear like that? Bulshit. Everybody copies to conform themselves with others. Or in this case these few cool girls who incited the fasion.

Only a very few have grown up not to conform with others and they are stigmatised for being different.

I'd like to agree with everyone here and the video ...... but if I did, I'd just be conforming.

#3 Sadly most of the people is like this, the best test available are the influence that pop singers and stars, politicians and of course religion have over all of us; and of course since this becomes your way of life your brain fights every attempt to wake you up by recurring to rationalizations to try to justify your actions.
I suggest to watch Michael Shermer: The pattern behind self-deception in youtube.

#15 Thank you, but I can't claim that as my own. That saying is from a t-shirt I saw at Wicked Jester. Give their site a look. I have several shirts I bought from them as many of the sayings they have resonate rather well with me.

This helped me understand political ads. We are deluged with them around election time because the politicians know it makes it appear their positions are popular, whether they are or not.
