So this is what Bush's "shock and awe"( play on words), looked like when attacking Iraqi forces during the initial invasion.

Really until you see a lightning strike live, and more importantly up close you will never get the full effect. It is the true meaning of the awesome.
I was on a bus when it hit the power pole across the street, less than 20 feet away. Film would never do it justice.

I once saw a lightning like a 300 m away from me and just the loud sound that strikes your body is something extraordinary to experience, but i can't imagine what is like to be so close to lightning.
p.s. have any of you seen the holy sh*t? is it the sh*t that priest blessed or something?

Aaah, even when nature is hazardous it still is beautiful - the lightning, the thunder and the noise of the rain - love it and happened to me about 15 meters away on the other side of the road while i was sitting on my windowsill. The acoustic shock was tremendous!

once a lightning hit an electricity pole near my house...the pole was on fire and seemed to come out bolts of electricity pole...that´s really scary... 
i should have filmed that and send to snort...lol
but although frightening,they are beautiful

#10 video is great. but being there is awesome and frightening.
The closest ive ever been to lightning is 50m (150ft), i think my adrenalin was stuck on overdrive for next 3-4 days after that.

I would like to thank whoever did the audio mixing on this video. Fantastic job ducking the music so it didnt overpower the rest of the audio. *hats off*
