Actually, this is pretty intelligent? behavior. First, he reacts with alarm at the unknown. Then, he masters his fear and attempts to understand the phenomenon. He does this by performing a number of experiments, seeing what's behind the mirror, then attempting to climb into the mirror. Might look comical to us, but it's actually demonstrative of many of the cognitive qualities we possess as humans.

I've felt that way a couple of times back when I could still cast a reflection.
Now I'm tucked in for the day by morning.

#1, thats not really true...If he would be intelligent he would recognize himself, like chimpanzees do...self recognition is the first step to self wawareness!

@#9 You seem to be implying that #1 cheated??????

I see it as sharing information. I'll often copy something because it is usually more concise than I could come up with at the moment.

@#10 The moment in this video is the monkey reacting to an inanimate object suddenly become animate which is what #1 tried to express by sharing knowledge not "cheating".

And the point of seeing yourself in a mirror is? Oh yes, so you can wake up 08 in the morning get to your job do mindless boring zombie activities until 16 when you go home. Rinse repeat until you die.
