This makes me ashamed to be white...and human! Humans have no compassion for each other now a days. Those boys looked really nice, I would have helped them in a heartbeat. So much ignorance and greed has been bred into this world..

ha love it.... we are all such products of where we are born and raised. As an Aussie who has lived overseas for more than 10 years I love watching people fresh off the boat. How different people and nationalities react to different situations. Very interesting to see someones reaction to visiting the west for the first time.

This looks like a TV show or a doco does anyone have any idea what it was called?

It was to show that even though the USA is a pile of shite, with a corrupt political system, a crap healthcare system and is populated by redneck religious zealot morons, to a black from a backward country still set in the dark ages, it can seem quite impressive. :D

I was amused when the pool lady asked them (in a rather affirmative way) if they have more 'freedom' in the US.
She sure had the freedom to be a dick.

while all of us live so far apart, for us its easier to understand the world, because we live in the age of informations.
we just switch on television and watch documentaries about their lifes.
the probably cant and have no access to so many informationes about the world, like we have.

not saying that informations are worth it or not. just saying, that this is the actual difference

#25 The guy is probably trying to figure out why a film crew is there documenting a group of black guys eating donuts.

These 'Lost Boys" from the Sudan had just been rescued from a refugee camp in Kenya where they had fled to by walking many miles bare-footed thru the desert to escape the Arab Muslims who have been attacking villages and slaughtering Dinka people and any others who were not Muslim.Non-Muslim women are gang-raped and then mutilated by having their breasts cut off and left for dead. Men and boys are taken and sold into slavery. Most of the world ignores what is still happening in the Sudan because it is mostly blacks that are being targeted , but this needs to change. These "boys" are very fortunate to have survived because tens of thousands of their people have been massacred.
Sorry for the rant......

#8 I just noticed your diatribe and the healthcare comment is amusing.Take a look at some actual statistics sometime before you spout-off.

A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very
interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.

Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years
after diagnosis:

U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%

Percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes who received
treatment within six months:

U.S. 93%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage of seniors needing hip replacement who received it
within six months:

U.S. 90%
England 15%
Canada 43%

Percentage referred to a medical specialist who see one within
one month:

U.S. 77%
England 40%
Canada 43%

Number of MRI scanners (a prime diagnostic tool) per million
people:

U.S. 71
England 14
Canada 18

Percentage of seniors (65+), with low income, who say they are
in "excellent health":

U.S. 12%
England 2%
Canada 6%

Your naive and nauseatingly patriotic scramble for statistics is as amusing as it is misleading. Lets take a proper objective look at things shall we? From Wiki:

Life expectancy in the USA is 42nd in the world, below most developed nations and some developing nations. It is below the average life expectancy for the European Union. The World Health Organization (WHO), has ranked the U.S. health care system as the highest in cost, first in responsiveness, 37th in overall performance, and 72nd by overall level of health (among 191 member nations included in the study). The Commonwealth Fund ranked the United States last in the quality of health care among similar countries, and notes U.S. care costs the most.

The USA is the "only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not ensure that all citizens have coverage" (i.e., some kind of private or public health insurance)

So there you have it. As far as healthcare goes, you'll just about get by in the USA,.... as long as you have loadsa money. USA land of the healthy rich. Everyone else can go and fuck themselves.

#30 Your Wiki copy/paste is looking at the entire 300+ million Americans , which includes all the people who opt-out of the system, not just the ones who have decided to buy medical insurance. For the ones who choose to participate in the healthcare system there is no better healthcare system on the planet. Millions of young people choose not to buy medical insurance so that they can instead buy a BMW or Corvette since they feel they have no worries being young and healthy and knowing that if an accident does befall them no hospital can turn them away.
Our hospitals always have a large number of European and Asian patients in them to get critical operations that are just not available in their home countries in a timely manner.
There is nothing in our Constitution that allows the Federal Government to mandate medical coverage for all. Why should a welfare person who pays nothing have the right to the same medical coverage as a person who pays into the medical insurance system?
Picture of Spender14 achievements

+1 32. Spender commented 13 years ago

#31. Of course the Wiki piece is looking at the entire 300+ million Americans. That's the whole point. That's what happens when you examine the health care of an 'entire' country. And the conclusion that it clearly arrives at is that health care in the USA is of a lower standard than many other countries, and very expensive. The reasons your hospitals have a large number of Europeans and Asians is because they will always make space for wealthy people who want to use cash to queue-jump their own country's health care. Health care is big business.

"There is nothing in our Constitution that allows the Federal Government to mandate medical coverage for all. Why should a welfare person who pays nothing have the right to the same medical coverage as a person who pays into the medical insurance system?"

Look more closely at what you've just written and then ask this question: "Why should one of your citizens who through no fault of his own is unable to afford health insurance (perhaps he has to choose between insurance premiums and food) be excluded from proper health care?" That is the mark of a caring society, something which is clearly lacking in the USA. Perhaps your constitution needs amending.

#32 "Why should one of your citizens who through no fault of his own is unable to afford health insurance (perhaps he has to choose between insurance premiums and food) be excluded from proper health care?"
The trouble is many of those citizens cause their own problems by abusing drugs and alcohol and living a lifestyle that keeps them poor and yet they use the medical system at a higher rate than the people who do pay their own way. I don't want the US to become a nanny state where the Government thinks it always knows best. Government isn't the solution,it is the problem. Socialism is just not our way.
Picture of Spender14 achievements

+1 34. Spender commented 13 years ago

"Socialism is just not our way."

Nor ours. It's disingenuous of you to pretend that the USA is such a model of excellence as far as health care is concerned simply because all of your wealthy people can have instant access to it. Socio-economic problems are enormously complex issues and it is ludicrous to suggest that the excluded citizens are there simply because they are drug addicts or alcoholics. A country and its government is judged on how it manages its entire population, not just the wealthy; and the United States, which is so keen to expand its sphere of influence across the planet, should concentrate a bit closer to home first.
Picture of sux2bu67 achievements

0 35. sux2bu commented 13 years ago

You must be under the illusion that if an American (or even a non-American) does not have medical insurance then he (or she) is just out of luck, which is just not the case. There are free clinics in every city that cater to the less fortunate and all hospital emergency rooms are required by law to treat anyone who shows up and has a problem, even if it is just a runny nose;they can not be turned away. With millions of illegal immigrants pouring into this country and freely using our health services it is getting harder and harder for US tax payers to keep footing the bill. In California two out of every three babies are born to people who sneaked across our southern border and they pay nothing for the services they receive at a hospital. Please start inviting those illegals to invade YOUR country , where ever that might be.(ashamed of it are you?)
Picture of Spedner5 achievements

-3 36. Spedner commented 13 years ago

No doubt it's comforting for someone unfortunate enough to not have health insurance to know that they can get their runny nose treated. I wonder how many clinics would perform a kidney transplant, hip replacement or Cancer radiotherapy and chemotherapy for free?

I see you want to divert attention away from your general population and refocus your argument on immigrants. Not a very imaginative approach, but probably what I'd expect from you. Anyway, your immigration problem had me crying... with laughter. The USA imposes its unwanted attention on enough countries around the world, it's amusing to see them getting the same treatment from a collection of pregnant Mexican bitches. LOL.

Incidentally, I'm not ashamed of my country, but unlike the majority of Americans, I see no reason to proclaim flag-waving, anthem-singing, hand-on-heart national pride at every opportunity.

I'm a citizen of the world. For you, firmly closeted behind your deeply ingrained and misguided sense of superiority, this is something you will never understand.

#4, not true! People DO care, that's why videos like this exist. They exist to give the unknowing public the opportunity to understand that, while we are different, we are the same - Humanity is one group, not many groups. We divide ourselves by thinking us separate, placing personal wealth above creating abundance for everyone. Every human being is entitled to abundance (not excess!). There is a humility in these young men in the video that I have never seen in the developed world. They are not unusual in their culture - they are the norm. I am grateful to be reminded of how poorly we treat our brothers and sisters from less developed parts of the world - with suspicion, fear, judgment. We have much to learn!

You are quoting a fake document. The USA has the worst medical care and it costs the most. I hate it when people circulate fake stuff without checking it first.
