You dont need to crash a plane, trust me
Just try to see yourself from others point of view. Sometimes that can really blow your mind.

It sounds weird but I imagine I know the feeling of dying from my dreams. I always have the same thought which is 'This is it' - it's very weird, but always the same realisation which I always think of and remember when I wake up.

Been in a plane, suddenly all 4 of the engine went silent. it only was for about 5 or 6 seconds, Maybe we were a minute away to meet our old friends.
But in those 5 seconds, it was if 10 tought including "oh no, not now" in a flash you see your birth, your first car, your first kiss, even your first fight. and even your own death. but seen myself as an old man in the coffin.
And there was a total silence. looking straight into the eyes of an unknown girl (my age) seeing fear, and even a curiosity, Why I never said a word to her the other 12 ours of the flight (she was traveing alone). And what it would be like to be with her the rest of my life (a different life?).
But I'll never know. She was married, seen her a year later with her husband and kids.
And yes. make choices, do what makes you happy (as long as it does not hurt anyone ) It can be to late any second.

Shouldn't you try to be the best dad possible regardless of whether or not you've had a near death experience?
Nice story.
@11 - Of course, shouldn't we all who have children? But, he's also pointing out how wrapped up we all get with ego based trivialities that obscure the important things in life and that for some, him included, it takes an experience like the plane crash to strip away the ego, even if for a moment, and alter perspective permanently...
