I know dog body language pretty well, but im not sure, if this is a fear reaction, or happy reaction, some dogs also do that if they get beat up :/ it seems they smile they close the eyes and widden the mouth or show their teeth, they even wiggle their tail, but in fear of getting it in their face, and im not really sure wich one is it, because first time the guy aproaches the dog, he keeps the distance (in fear of a bite). I sure hope its just happiness :)

#9 It's happiness. I know someone who has a small terrier that does exactly the same, except when that dog smiles, it tends to make him sneeze. That dog seems perfectly happy to me.

let me explain: this happens when a dog did something bad and he knows he will be punished for it, so his instincts dictates him to be in a diffenssive mode (/ anger) and his intelligence dictates him to suppress it.

So yeah, it's suppressing anger with fear, you can tell by the ears position and the tail low with stress movements

Since this looks to be China I bet the dog is just hoping not to end up on the Bar-B-Q like most other dogs. :S
