F1 team helps boy get bionic hand.
Here's a nice story happened to a teenager of 14. Matthew James was born without his left hand, which of course handicaps for tying shoelaces, catching objects ... etc.
So he took his best pen and wrote a letter to the Mercedes F1 team to ask them 57 000 $ sponsorship so he can buy a bionic hand.
Apparently, the letter has touched the people at Mercedes (or given the right opportunity in the marketing department) that rather than spinning 57 000 $ to Matthew, they collected money from sponsors and volunteers of the team and worked hand in hand with the company Touch Bionics to offer what is currently one of the prosthetic hand the most advanced in the world.
The i-LIMB Pulse is equipped with lithium batteries, 2 electrodes that can communicate with the arm and a Bluetooth module for setting via a computer.
-It really rolls, finally, the high-end Mercedes electronic hands.

Nice but what kind of (excuse the word) retarded news presenter is that he spent the first 30 seconds explaining how it works then she asks the most stupid question ever "how does it work and does it have a power source" no its powered by thin air dear.....
Fantastically ignorant ....so its fantastic to be ignorant ....
Great story though what a great form of free advertisement for Mercedes they did not even pay for it and there getting a great image for it.

I have to stress this again... I LOVE SCIENCE + TECHNOLOGY...
Then again I have to ask the same question, WILL GOD GIVE YOU THIS HAND?
She said she was technically retarded,#2, and the boy seems rather cocky. "He took his best pen and wrote to them" thats just BS, the boy saw a chance of getting a more normal life without much effort from his side. Would be more heartaching if he would try to get the sum himsef, which mercedes then heard about and decided to help out.
..ihave more practicaly question:
-how does he wash hands! (and im serious)
Somehow he still sweat under the bionic arm atleast..

#6 he takes off the bionic hand and puts it in a washing machine
The other hand..well..maybe he got a sponge prothese ![]()
dear #3, there is no such thing as a god.
there is something like good people in this world though who make things like this possible,
<< when one man has an invisible friend they lock him up, when a lot of people have an invisible friend they call it religion
>>
Most important question is... can you satisfy yourself using that hand? Y'all was thinking about it. I just brought it up.

Instead of Mercedes I would have asked to Honda: They did a sex robot, then maybe a bionic hand built from them is more gentle? ![]()

The example that technology doens't has to be specific to its original aplication!! Nice on Mercedes!
