The katana was a real piece of work back in those days. The longswords were mass-produced and nowhere near as sharp as a katana. It took much longer to create a good katana than crafting a longsword. While swords were often used maces and morningstars were a favored weapon against heavier armor due to the crush factor.

#4 I thought the same. They try to slash like trying to hit with the katana instead of a proper slashing motion. And they thrust with the katana horizontally instead it being vertical.

I miss mail call and gunny, best show ever! And i knew the Katana was going to win, Its a far superior weapon as far as swords go in my book.

A high quality katana could have won. but it is not about the equipment, it is about the man behid it, an how to use it. A white guy with a Katyana (making uhm and oof sounds) looks a bit weird. (I would look weird holding a katana)
