I like this series very much and I love the coolness of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).
It's a nice visualisation (for show) of what might go on inside computers, but pulling the plug from the terminal does not keep hackers away from the servers.
At least it looks legit for the regular TV viewer but all snotr viewers know better, don't we?

There is just so much fail here its stupid how any one could ever take this show serious after this , I do not know about you but hackers usually do not want you to know there hacking you and do not spend there days thinking of ways to flash loads of crap all over the screen as this has nothing to do with hacking.
And the fact that there typing in to nothing , not even a cmd prompt or any kind of console open is just idiotic crap for the masses.
I thought this kind of thing died in the movie's around 1998-99

pulling the plug helps, no hacker can reinsert the plug from distance

Unplugging the computer fixed it!!! hahahahahahaha. Just think of that! Most computers hook up to servers that are networked by very secure routers and firewalls.
By unplugging the computer they are still working in the background. And i've never seen anyone been able to use the same keyboard at the same time. Mind reading at its Best!

You said it 18! MOST computers are networked.
not all.
She did say they were targeting her files, they might have been stored locally.
If so, unplugging would definitely prevent them from getting more data.
But yes, the scene is overall silly. Two people each using 1 half of a keyboard. You aren't going to get much done like that.
I understand why they do it, i just wish they would come up with a better way to do it. Movie OS at its best.

#2 she did however say they were only trying to access her computer. Even better solution would be to unplug the network cable. Same goes for server, just disconnect it. The thing is, in rl detecting the hacker is usually the issue, once you spot them you can remove them fairly easily.
