#1 I disagree with you on that point. The deceleration is causing the damage, in that case 120mph to 0 in 68ms. It would be the same as if two cars collide at 120mph.

#1: If I remember correct, Mythbusters proved the opposite. Impact force with two cars going 60 mph, is the same as one car crashing in a wall in 60 mph. But I might be wrong.

#1 is right, as pointed out by #6, it's in Mythbusters season 8, episode 7.
I saw the same debate on Youtube where people just resort to "your stupid"

#1, even in case you were right (assumption of car speed totalizing), you'd be wrong either as E=1/2*m*v^2, so, energy is exponential function of speed, not linear. Anyway, head on crash does not sum up the speeds, as noted by #5...

#1 is totaly wrong. if you have two identical cars, driving the same speed. hitting each other cleanly head on, its almost the same as one car hitting a wall at the same speed. this has to do with the compression of the materials.
if you have two cars, both cars will compress and deflect the force of the crash by bending the materials. if you have one car and a wall. only the car will compress and will take all the force of the crash.

#14 you mean quadratic, not exponential (that would be terrifying indeed).
The energy argument is ok in this case (in one case, each car brings 1/2 mv^2, but it must also destroy both of the cars, and in the other car, you only have 1/2 mv^2, but you spend it on only one car). This however is completely wrong if after the crash the wreckage is still moving.

I think it same force impact if both cars same model, same speed are clean impact to each other. like pendelum if both hold on same distance then released after that, the distance of bouncing ball between the point of impact is half of the one ball strike on steady ball on same set; a little difference may be because of gravity. Youtube do have experiment on that to be clear to me?...

regardless of the above comments if that wasn't a crash test scenario there is NO way you walk out alive,ever !!!! or at least not without your own head jammed so far up yar own ass

#06 you are right, both car head on doesn't gets the result of this crash, cause one of them are not as hard as a concrete and doesn't stay stationary. Just like when you fire a bullet onto a concrete wall and one onto a sand bag.

Hardly the worlds fastest car crash test in the world, when the mythbusters did ~300mph crashes in a couple of their episodes...

At 4:34 I see an airbag... those things flap out super fast, but pretty useless at this car speed.

Actually, only as 60mph is needed if two cars are going head on against each other. And if both cars are going at 120mph then it would be twice the impact shown in there.
