That is a very good idea, but life itself has thought me nothing is free... so what's the catch? Do they have adds on the site and use the add revenue to pay for the rice?
It also raises the question : What will they eat the next day? This looks like it's treating the symptoms of poverty, and not the cause of poverty.
That's my 2 cents... I'm gonna play the game now

You can call me evil, stupid or ignorant, but my opnion about world hunger:
1) There will be always hunger in the world, if it wouldnt, we would populate in infenetive geometric progression which needs infinetive space. For abvious reasons our planet hasnt infenetive space.
2) Ok, buy food for 1 poor people and after few years there will be need to give food for 3 poor people. Better give money for fishing rod not the fish. The poor socity needs to be educated and needs to be able to take care for it self. Food donations is a waste, if you dont invest in fishing rod.
3) There will be 7 billion people. Isnt that like treat for our planet and for us as a species?

#4 Are you a fan of ADOLF HITLER by any chance?? I'm just saying... it's really really really easy to have an opinion like that when you have not a single clue of what it is like for these people (mostly children) Judging by the photo you have on your profile you like to fish.. and yes I know you give a man a fish he eats for a day you TEACH a man a fish he eats for a lifetime... and I'm not calling you stupid or evil but very very ignorant... it's thinking this that has me the world the way it is..
Now for my personal comment... I'm a body builder and I remember when I learned that rice is surprisingly high in calories... so this is a pretty smart idea.

#4 you are correct. And this is silly.Playing a game does not provide rice. That would mean that if you don't play the game they will let them die? The donated food would go either way. And yes you are olny adding to the misery be giving them just enough food to stay alive long enough to have 3 more kids that we will then have to feed.It sounds evil but survival must be on a community by community basis or we will have to carry them forever. And we can not sustain that forever. It would be nice if we could but we can't.If you want to help them, educate them, starting with birth control.Having millions of children you can not feed is not real bright.I live in a rich country and I has only one child. That I can maintain and keep happy and fed.If we all popped out kids like they do we would very soon be in the same boat , and who would feed us? They don't even know not to stand in the food they are given. And the kids will die of dysentery from eating with bare dirty hands. food is the least of their problems in the long run.

#4, you are correct. The "Global Food Crisis" (macro) is merely a symptom of:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overpopulation
However, this video focuses on a "Refugee Food Crisis" (micro), and because these people were displaced, it actually is a brilliant idea:

If you truly care for these people send them guns to overthrow their oppressive government and religions, and books to teach them why. If two cats show up at your door and you simply feed them, the only thing you will get is hundreds and hundreds of cats. Soon you will be like an old cat lady that live in the filth of too many cats and can not feed her self because she is giving her food to the cats.Knowledge is power, free food is merely a shackle!

#4 you are not Evil, Evil him self would see you as Evil,
first things first, if I see a skinny kid who merely have skin above his bone, i would provide him with food, the next I should provide him with food till even 100 years i should be providing him with food. there will be time for any one to learn or work,
I dont believe some one just setting behind his screen and think its OK for me to be entertained with snotr but hey why are you wasting food on the poor tomorrow they will die and this food will be a waste,
well, you are educated you are fed you are wearing cloths and stupid accessories and at the end of your life you are dead, what a waste

#3 Here is how it works....
In exchange for advertisements on the website, various sponsors donate the money necessary to pay for the rice and other costs to run Freerice. The creator of this program donated the website to WPF after its second year of operation so now the donations are distributed by the United Nations's World Food Program ,starting with Bangladesh. Freerice's partner is the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. The most common countries receiving rice are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Bhutan, Uganda, and Nepal, even though Freerice can travel all over the world (as of early 2008). By this time, the site's creator (John Breen) had given over $213,000 US to the WFP which encourages people to visit freerice.com.
This will not end all the suffering but it will alleviate some of it to an extent. I am going to send some more rice as soon as I sign off from snotr.

I think people are misunderstanding the concept of this video...I came to USA as a refugee. I lived in Thai Burma border...you guys have no ideas what is it like to live in hunger and wonder how you are going to get the food the next day...not only that these people live in fear constantly hunger isnt the only problems...You cant blame those people for being poor and the situation they are in or why they have many children...THE REASON IS SIMPLE.. they are uneducated they have no idea what it is like in the rest of the world...they dont know what the birth control is because they are beat down n thrown out of their homes by dictating government *military especially in Burma* they have no time to go to school because they are busy running and hiding from the soldier that burn down your house just because they can rape any woman and child at the site because they have guns...so who are you people to do the judgement here...you can only understand if you live the life those poor people live...I assure you if they were to live n lead a peaceful life then 90% of them will not be hungry or be so poor... the government of the country should be blamed here not the people....why not let the world knows what is going on in those part of the world rather than bitching and pointing fingers and trying to sound like hypocrite...if you do that then you are no better than the government that put these people this situation in the first place

#18 thats what I said! Thank you for backing me up! Government is always the problem and rarely the solution. Here in the USA and all over the world.Never once has the people of one land massed together and attacked another land. It is always the government. And it is always the government that holds a people back.Food will only prolong the problem. Freedom is ALWAYS the answer! ALWAYS !!!( and knowledge!which comes with freedom by default. ignorance is step one to controlling a people.Let them learn nothing or control what they learn
