I remember when the first Playstation came out in 1996 and I bought it, one of the first games I got with it was Wipeout, and I became a huge fan ever since. That game has inspired my life in so many ways. The soundtrack was cutting edge back then, they used a track by The Chemical Brothers and since then I've become a fan of all their musical work. The logos for the team and the artwork was done by The Designers Republic which was a graphic design team from Sheffield, their work inspired me to become a graphic designer.

Its great to see that Wipeout inspired these scientists to build this mini track. Bring on the real thing so we can have a racing series to finally crush Formula 1 as the premium high octane sport.

Regardless of its fakeness quotient, I'm very jealous that there are people in research and educational establishments who get to play about with cool stuff all day, while I have to sit at a desk looking at numbers on a computer screen.

Not only does it look like an average CG, but also they are using a fairly expensive 3D Mouse used almost exclusively with 3d applications. http://www.3dconnexion.com/

But hey - according to Back to the Future, only 3 more years until we get floating skateboards.

This track cost more than a real car most likely.

As soon as i saw the "Liquid Nitrogen Tank" i knew it was fake. Its clearly a C02 canister. No liquid nitrogen would ever come in a bottle like that.
