#5 : the windshield is made of laminated safety glass. It must stay in one piece in any case !

However, you're right about most of modern car's windows : they are made of tempered glass because it's somehow secure and cheaper than laminated glass. Some manufacturer like Volvo or Audi and Mercedes let you choose in option for laminated glass for all windows (around 300€/$)

#7 the reason of using laminated glass over the tampered glass for windscreen, is that they found that tampered glass shattered and block your view was too dangerous and not because of price.
It happened to me once when a stone hits on my windscreen on the move, almost can't see anything instantly. :S

#11 Block your view? In my book i stop the car when something breaks my windshield..no matter if it scatters or just break. And why do you guys talk about a windshield? Its nowhere said that its a windshield nor said its used in cars..sure its made to break evenly to avoid cuts..but i have not seen anybody talk about cars. It just scatters like a sidewindow of a car would..to not cut passengers..but where in the vid did they talk about windshields/car windows?

Maybe i misssed that point..
