Its the animation quality, seeing how this wasnt done on a computer, all you have to do is look at the end when everything is crumpling up, you know how incredibly hard it is to do that last scene w/o a computer? thats why it won awards.

This is hilariously stupid!
The ending was pretty well animated.
The story for the entire movie was probably made-up.

No wonder they rejected it, if a professional would analyse this guy's brain, would find out he is kinda psycho-pathological fenomenon...simply: mentally ill!

Don't you people get it? He was never actually contracted to do any commercials! It's a movie, and that's part of the story! Morons!

Don Hertzfeldt is a brilliant animator and these cartoons weren't actually rejected, he storyboarded and planned the whole movie from scratch. It was animated 1 frame at a time by hand and photographed onto film without computers. He didn't have a big team of 100 animators like TV shows, he did everything himself over months, minus some voice acting and sound effects people. If this can't win an award I don't know what can.
The first time I saw it I was crying of laughter on the floor. I think it's brilliant. I saw well done.

You know what, I love you, #21. All of these people that are saying "wtf, this is stupid" obviously have no taste. I say screw all of the people saying that... Honestly. Grow an... acceptance (?) for things as amazing as this. You may not like the way it is drawn, or the storyline, or the humor. but at least give this guy credit where credit is due. Just look at the end. I don't think any of you could ever in your LIFETIME do anything like this with just a camera. ![]()
