In 1992-1996 Sarajevo was a battlefield in the Bosnian War which was the most destructive conflict in Europe since the World War II.

In 2012 Sarajevo was an excellent ski trip destination.

My parents are from there and a question always asked is "where are you from"
not to make friends but to decide whether or not they like you.
So sad that this is how people are judged

skiing in Bosnia is even more extreme considering that almost 4% of the country's territory is mined since 1992-1995 war

The Balkans.. a lost paradise, from Greece in the south to Croatia in the North West and Southern Romania in the North East, you've got everything from white sand beaches and ancient temples to medieval castles and virgin forests on top of the Carpathians.. and the brilliant Danube delta with its wild horses and hidden lacustrian villages..
I hate what Communism(and what ensued after its fall) did to this small corner of paradise..
