The tip of the whip has to move at 768mph to make that sound. If i am not mistaken, whips were the first man made object to break the sound barrier ![]()

The sounds made by the snappers are actually mini sonic-booms
because the tip of it goes over the speed of sound .
That's what my dad told me when I was little when I asked him why does a whipper makes that sound.
