Just imagine when this implant would work even at 50% of the capacity of one human eye[estimated to 576 megapixels] , and would be implanted to a person who was born blind and now is, let's say 25 years old, and will see for the first time... Imagine his reaction... It would be something at a whole new level for him. Perhaps he won't understand what he sees or who knows, but still...
By the way technology evolves, this will be possible pretty soon.
That will be priceless.

#2 Yes, it's truly a remarkable invention.
But unfortunately, even if we created a device that could work at full capacity, maybe even a bionic eye, the person would never see the same as we, since the visual neural connections that form during childhood will be absent in blind adults.
But even so, it's an amazing progress and I hope we will see more and more inventions like that in the near future.

Once a blind man goes to a small hotel run by a owner himself. The owner comes and flashes the menu card to the blind man. Blind man says: Sir I am blind and can't read the menu so if you could bring a fork or knife which is used by the last customer I can place an order. Owner felt strange and went inside the kitchen and picked up a fork kept from the washbasin and handed over to the blind man. Blind man smelt the fork and said: Sir please bring me beef curry with rice. The owner was astonished as the last customer has ordered the same. Again after couple of week the same blind man enters the hotel and the owner flashes the menu card and for that the blind man says: Sir don't you remember me, I am the same blind man and before he could ask the owner went inside and brought a knife used by the previous customer and handed over to him. Blind man smells it and says: Sir please bring me mutton soup with bread. Owner was again surprised by his order as the same was ordered by the previous customer. The blind man leaves after having his meal. He returns again after couple of weeks and enters the hotel and as soon as the owner sees him, he welcomes him and says, I will go and get the fork for you and goes inside the kitchen. That day for a change his wife will have come to help him. The owner says to his wife, look here the blind man outside has strange powers. I am not too sure whether he is playing a trick with me. The owner asks his wife to take a fork and rub it to your private parts and give me and I wanna fool this blind man. So the owner bring the fork which is rubbed to his wife's private parts and hands over to the blind man. Blind man smells deeply and exclaims "I didn't know Mary works here".........

Is it a common thing for blind people to know our alphabet?
