Good thing the driver didn't wake up. He could have swerved right to go back to his lane leaving no room for the other truck to avoid him. A frontal collision would have ended much worse.

Fall asleep driving is far much dangerous than drunk driving, take 2 bottles of red bull if you think you are too sleepy to drive. It does works for me and will keep me fresh awake at least 2~3 hrs

A Russian co-worker of mine used to drive trucks in his country. He told that the older drivers took vodka before going on the road. Perhaps the driver here just run out of vodka and started to feel sleepy :P

And yes i do have the right to comment as I have done this job for approx 15 years.
You are in charge of one hell of a heavy machine and we all know the dangers and we have bosses screaming "ARE YOU THERE YET!!!" but you just gotta remind them that a ten min kip out of your wage is better than ten year stretch for killing a few innocent people.
Logistic boss's do not give a crap and will push you and push you......"If you let them!!!!"

I don't think the driver fell asleep, because he didn't react when the truck begun to shake.
Perhaps he had a heard attack or a stroke. I know real cases.

Maybe there was no driver, perhaps he got out a few miles back and left it in drive. Of course these days it could be ISIS :|
