0 6. BloodBeast commented 7 years ago on video Russian cyclist evades death

Anyone who thinks that the cyclist is at fault here in *any* way needs to have his eyes examined. He was wearing bright clothes, was positioned correctly in the road, and was given no time to avoid the moron who drove into him. If he had intended to turn right, he would have been at the far right of the lane, or at least in the centre; as he was, a couple of feet over the white line, he was sensibly avoiding any fast traffic behind him going straight over the junction.
And as for the driver being unable to see because of a thick roof pillar... really? Have you not even looked at the video before posting this comment? The cyclist is 30 degrees to her(!) right through the windscreen - there is no, zero, possibility of restricted vision.
Summary: 100% the fault of the moron who bought her driving licence or cut it off the back of a cereal packet.

0 30. BloodBeast commented 8 years ago on video Baby Rufous Hummingbird

I see little point in a video which doesn't demonstrate the scale.
I was in Bosnia last year and took a video of what I initially thought was a very tiny moth, about half an inch long, hovering at flowers. I thought it was a bit strange during the day, so I looked closer. It and several others in the same patch turned out to be humming birds, smaller than the tip of my little finger - blowing up a still from the video I was just able to make out the body, wings and beak.
This video doesn't do anything at all to show that. This bird could be six inches long, and I've seen lots of birds before.

"Not a big fan of cruelty"? Seriously? You post this gem of humanity on a public website? What do you say in private?
Cruelty is disgusting. Killing inhumanely for profit is disgusting. One day our descendants will look back at these obscene practices with the same shame and loathing as we ourselves now look back on slavery. FFS, why are so many people so lazily illiterate? We have dictionaries for a reason. Language matters - it's how we communicate.

Nice imprint, but for anyone to claim that it's evidence for twenty-feet-tall people they would need to provide other evidence. All evidence is that our predecessors were small. This is therefore either something completely new that science has willingly discounted, or it's a fake (in which case I congratulate the forgers), or it's a spurious coincidence.
I'm with #6 Judge-Jake on this - graffiti. Clever graffiti, but graffiti nonetheless, not genuine, and certainly not worth the price of a ticket to SA. Nor a trek up a mountain.

If a business offers something it should be prepared to follow through. He's dead right. Businesses rip consumers off time after time and yet when this consumer stands up for his legal rights you people think he's in the wrong? Come on...

#2 "Common sense" isn't the way business works. That's why we have consumer laws - to protect us from their sleazy practices. The manager was a nice guy in the end, agreed #4, but his initial wriggly attitude is exactly what I expect of business. He could have seen right away that instead of trying the stalling tactic the simple honest straightforward way of dealing with this was to hand over 15 cents' worth of guacamole instead of spending 50 cents of his company's time in arguing about it.

The second is spot-on; genital mutilation is unspeakably vile, though why you apply it only to the Muslim world I have no idea - an unwillingness perhaps to criticise the large US Jewish population?
And religion aside, cruelty inflicted on any living creature is ugly and shames humankind.

"So just stating the facts is racist" If they're racist facts, yes.

"most Eskimos prefer seal blubber to beef that would be racist too". If posted in a racist context, as you have done, yes. And particularly if it's an undocumented statement.
"I hire and fire blacks and whites". God save us if you have hire & fire power over anybody...
"without race being considered". You'll pardon me if, having read your earlier posts, I take that statement with a pinch of salt.

#10 Yes, I don't know if I'd have the courage to do the same with my child's cam footage. Respect.

#11 Agreed. But, with care, (pedal) cycling is healthy and life-prolonging. I've cycled for 35 years, including 17 years in London, Marble Arch, Piccadilly, and was knocked off only once, painfully but not life-threatingly (I have always worn a helmet), by a Mini driver who took out my back wheel and said the classic "Sorry, I didn't see you" despite my bright red jacket. Oh well... Still cycling every day, still being careful.

#12 Also agreed. As an ex-motor-cyclist, with no accidents because I was paranoid about bad drivers, I can still relate to this poor guy's accident. And as a father, I can not even begin to imagine his mother's pain. This is why I can't let pass unchallenged the imbecilic comments above, which I'm gratified to see are being massively down-voted.

I've never smoked, and I abhor the habit, which to my eyes reeks only of damaged personalities. With the knowledge we have today of the damage tobacco causes, there is no excuse for this filthy practice.
Nevertheless, I enjoy watching craftsmen at work and seeing the pride and pleasure that they have in the finished product. Although I detest the intended use, the pipes themselves are works of beauty.

And it takes a Brit to hold up the mirror? A very funny guy making a very serious point in an engaging way, and I doubt that it will make a tap of difference. The people who vote for these policies don't watch programmes like his; it hurts their brains too much.

The "three strikes and you're out" (which he doesn't mention) is a bizarre practice - I don't know if what I see on TV is really how it works, but if the third strike is for something incredibly minor and the person gets a long stretch...? That can't be right, surely? But if it is, no doubt it contributes.

Wow, you people are *harsh*...
These are sentient intelligent creatures being held in cages. It's no excuse to say "We love and care for them" or "Other animals are treated worse".
And it's *particularly* appalling to use these creatures for product testing - the idea that it's ok, for example, to drip shampoo into an animal's eyes just in case it might hurt a poor human being...
It's wrong. Plain and simple. And future generations will castigate us for it in the same way as we castigate our forebears for many of their at-the-time acceptable practices.

I'm sure that everyone reading this will know Jeremy Clarkson, the UK Top Gear presenter. I don't have too much time for him, far too right-wing in at least his public pronouncements, but he does occasionally come up with a good anecdote. Viz:
He was pulled up by a U.S. police officer for a minor (as he tells it) traffic infraction, and asked the officer if they could use common sense (i.e. give him a slap on the wrist and send him on his way). The officer's reply: "We have laws. We don't need common sense." He got a ticket.

He certainly is, but with the often ludicrously over-cautious signage on our motorways people become blasé. A few weeks ago I was on a UK motorway and got repeated signs for "Incident ahead - 50MPH", so I slowed down, crawled along for about 10 miles, no sign of anything resembling an incident (and in that time there was ample opportunity for the signage to be cleared if there had really been any sort of incident that had cleared itself).
Me, I can understand that the driver would think "Yeah, sure..." and go ahead, and he was unfortunate to discover that this time it was for real. Not trying to excuse his behaviour, just playing Devil's Advocate...
