The guy is little insane indeed, however the commentary is totally tragic... How to get the most of the propaganda out of that action... I can clearly imagine the same level of commentary of a guy pissing on a tree in a park. All those "how police saver our lives" series are little too much pathetic...

Well, I don't like cops at all, especially here in my small central european country they are real idiots, however these guys were quite professional and I can understand that if everyone was doing those pranks it probably wouldn't help anybody... When I was a child US was my "dreamland" because of the US series and the relatives I had there. I visited US in 1994 when it was still pretty OK. Then I was wondering if the next visit would be worth letting them sticking their finger into my ass, possibly letting my notebook, thoroughly searched at the security check, etc. Having watched the news for the last couple of years I am pretty sure that US has started it's fail some time ago already. So, why not see Australia or New Zealand instead? :)

+9 11. Granko commented 10 years ago on video Storm chaser struck by lightning

#7 Every material (theoretically) can be a conductor, it's just a matter of high enough voltage. The air itself is not conductive normally so why the lightning at all? ;). Because the very high voltage is able to create a plasma channel which is conductive. The same principle applies for other materials as well.

+9 12. Granko commented 10 years ago on video Aircraft Hangar Foam Fire Suppression Test

I assume it's rather targetting the groud-level fire (burning fuel, etc.) and the primary objective is not saving the single aircraft on fire but more likely to prevent the fire from spreading across the larger area (and thus saving the other aircrafts in the hangar or so).

Ok, what's the point here? Many principles combined. I don't give a shit about rotation acceleration in this case. The thing that kept kept him alive was a friction between the rope and the pipe. Just a little of lubrication and the outcome might have been completely different. On the other hand, given enough friction (rusty pipe) one and half revolutions of the rope around the pipe should have been enough to prevent him from falling.

#3 Treats are important part of the training (some people believe), especially for pugs - they love treats and food in general, and they are not the easiest breed to train. So treats might help in training. The more treats they get the smaller regular food they should get (provided the nutrition balance). Most of the pugs I know snore even they are not overweight. Anyway, it's definitely important to know the right weight of your pug (anywhere from 6kg to 10kg based on the size), check it from time to time and adjust the portion size accordingly.

+3 44. Granko commented 12 years ago on video Tiger tank start up

#9, I don't know anything about that tank, but I guess there is no starter motor (at least not used in this case). Those guys were rather spinning up some flywheel to accumulate enough momentum to kick-start the engine - purely mechanical priciple of turning rotating the engine. According to the sound there is some really fast spinning heavy disc, which when connected to the engine (via some transmission) provides enough power for a few engine rotations sufficient to start it. However, some insider could provide more details.

Kudos to guys who built those machines. Especially when you realize that the effort needed to build it was huge compared to the performance of such thing at that time. But without them there wouldn't be the second, third and other generations of computers whose performance improvement was exponencial and paid off the initial investment quite early.

+2 73. Granko commented 10 years ago on video Change your way of thinking in 60 seconds

As I see it, it's about what people are or are not going to regret on their death bed. Most of them would like to rewind and review an adventure action movie of their life with lot of moments to remember and be able to say that it was a good life. Unfortunatelly, I am afraid that many people would consider their life wasted at it's end. They might have been considered successful in their job, provided for their family but might have forgotten to live one day after the other. Be cautious about this it's really easy to get distracted by "more important stuff". The wake-up call comes with any serious illness or personal loss in life. Don't worry, be happy - we are dead already.

+2 76. Granko commented 10 years ago on video $800,000 watch tells perfect time

#7: If you somehow get to a "higher" society you are expected to wear expensive clothes, watch, jewellery, etc. Most people up there are not "normal". I see it with our salespeope - having much much higher income that the rest of the company but forced to buy new suits, watches, fucking big television, washing machines, cars, compact discs players and electric tin openers not to be considered "less successful" ;). I remember a guy having big internal issue with himself being just a director in a big 4 company (earning zillions of $) and not yet partner (earning tens of zillions of $). The issue was not the money (safe for several generations) but rather a social pressure from his schoolmates who were directors already ;). Many people are truly rich and can afford not to give a fuck. Much more, however, are living expensive life, having all that average guy could wish for, but there are mortgages, loans, etc. and many of them end up broke at the end (or crazy ;) ). They say perception is reality but this perception costs a lot, financially as well as psychically.

Anyway, conventional watch business is dead, just the unique luxury goods remains.

+2 86. Granko commented 8 years ago on video Underground Parking Garage

#4 Some of these use the two-track footprint, some use solid plate under the whole car so you can park a bike. Anyway, costs lot of money to build over the group and much much more to build underground. Delivery time is in tens of seconds up to minutes, and it's serial process - you can hardly manage more that 20 cars per hour in/out. So it's usually deployed as a demonstration of nice machine (expensive toy) or when cost of parking few cars does not matter (need to find a way how to park all top and senior management cars near the office in the historical centre of the city, etc.). If you have a small backyard but you know you can dig 30 meters down, it's one of the options.
The size and weight of the vehicle it's able to serve dependes on the specification - I am sure such thing can be build even for H1 but that's not the classic use case for these ;).

I use it often in winter/on slippery road to save some parking time. Criminals don't respect the law so they will ALWAYS have an advandage against law-obeying citizens, in this case they will have a gun. And you'll get shot because your law does not allow you to have one. In my country it's not easy to get a gun legally, it's even harder to be allowed to carry it around loaded. However, I woudn't want to live in a country which does not trust its citizens by prohibiting the guns for general (trained and examined) public. I don't fear good people harming me with guns, I fear those bad ones who can stab you with newspapers because they learned that in jail where I (hopefully) will never get. #6 I wouldn't bet on it. People driving on pavement consider themselves ubermenschen and the chance you get your ass kicked is much much higher compared to "regular folks" who obey the rules, especially in Russia. No guns needed. Even if they pulled a gun they would most probably smash your face with it than shoot it but I'll remember it anyway.

#11: In EU we have to have an emergency triangle in the car, reflexive vest, first aid kit, etc. As I see the item #1 in US should be a bulletproof vest. Guys, I am really sorry for you having the US "to protect and serve" cops around you. I think it's just a small step from the meltdown when US people start shooting on cops to protect themselves and to get some revenge... The universal truth "No matter where you go, no matter where you find yourself in the world, the stupidest people are always the cops." should be extended in way that they are not just stupidiest, they are also most dangerous to others.

#3 Exactly, it's just remapping of few controllers from the keyboard wheels/sliders to these gloves. You could "make the music" equally well with your car gas pedal, joystick a thermostat set temperature if connected properly ;).
And really, the music (notes, instruments, effects, connections) must be in place already. The lady is just tweaking one or two of the knobs/sliders, modifying one or more sounds in some way... May be funny but Beethoven can sleep well for some more time....

If I counted it right the interest rate for your "not so good" savings account for 19 years (2014-1995) would be 2,04%. Nowadays it's almost a win. Some time ago a terrible way how to store money. So bad deal, you should have kept it.

-2 147. Granko commented 10 years ago on video Beadchain experiment

3:25 - if there is more chain it's heavier (is it?) and it's going quicker? Well, not really - speed of the free fall (neglecting air resistance) is defined by the gravitational acceleration (constant) not depending on the mass weight. The principle is similar to sucking the gas out of the car tank to a lower placed canister using your mouth and a tube. The form of the tube is here replaced by the construction of the chain which can not be bent very tightly. So your gas in the tube could also "jump" above your car if the tube is high enough and is filled with gas to the point below the first tank level.

-2 149. Granko commented 9 years ago on video Would You Help A Lost Child?

Well, in situation when you more and more often meet Romanian, gypsy or other professionally "poor" children (not saying this was the situation) with the only objective to lure the money from you some people react as seen and do not want to get involved at all. Maybe bad experience from the past. The second thing, pedophile does not mean bad. That just means that a guy is sexually attracted to infants, in the same way the heterosexuals are attaracted to opposite sex or homosexuals to the same sex. Most of the pedophiles never touch a child and many good teachers are pedophiles (unknown to public). Being pedophile isn't bad. Making bad things to childen, opposite or the same sex is. People often forget to differentiate these things.

Imho fake. You can see the lid on the floor afterwards. What is the chance of a lid to be fired to the ceiling, makinkg a perfect circular hole in a 2 layers of a drywall without breaking it near the hole and falling back without getting stuck in the drywall or creating a significant dust. I guess the holes have been nicely cut before and they just took advandage of them to make it more interesting.... BTW, the holes appear bigger than the lid.
