This is a really sobering film, The really sad thing is that it happened at a time before the Iron curtain came down when the Soviet Union looked at the west with suspicion, If they had asked for international help many of these people could have been saved. It was the same as when the Kursk sank, the west had rescue submersibles that could have saved the submariners, but again the Russians wouldnt let the west intervene.
