Honestly, I think the guy who made this is an arsehat.
He gives personal information about the girl, and her alcoholic mother, then videos the trip to pick her up at her school. Even if we don't see her, all her schoolmates will remember the car and who got the ride.

He might think he comes off as a great guy doing something awesome for someone less fortunate; I htink he comes off as a right douchebag.

It's not true that honey becomes toxic when heated. This idea has its origin in Ayur Vedic medical ideas, but like a lot of these old ideas there is no scientific basis for it. The only toxic honeys come from bees who have fed on flowers that contain dangerous compounds.

Traditional nougat recipes use honey, I have made kilos of the stuff myself. It uses I cup of honey to two cups of sugar for the syrup, and it is boiled. Lots of recipes use honey that gets heated to high temps and no one gets poisoned.

It is true that most of the useful stuff like the vit C, and oils from the clove will have been boiled off the syrup.

#2,
The old myth that "bumblebees shouldn’t be able to fly" was based on calculations using the aerodynamic theory of 1918-19, only 15 years after the Wright brothers made the first powered flight. So, while these early theories suggested that their wings were too small to create sufficient lift, since then scientists have made huge advances in understanding aerodynamics and how different kinds of airflow can generate lift.

I've hand-reared a few magpies until they were ready to release. They are really intelligent and a great laugh to have around. The last one liked to roost up in the pelmet of the curtains, and would swoop down and snatch stuff from you if you turned your back for a moment.
If there was something you seemed to like, he wanted it. It made it difficult to have a doobie as he'd glide down and snatch the hash, with his wing-beats sending papers and tobacco flying.

At one point we lived in a 20 floor tower block that had central heating for the whole block delivered through a central core in the building. Somehow we got cockroaches that quickly spread through the whole building.

The worst part was when it came to cooking. You always had to remember to turn on the grill over the hotplates first and leave it to become good and hot, so all the cockroaches hidden up there abandoned ship, jumping out.
If you forgot, as some people did now and again, after cooking food in a pot on a hotplate for about 15 minutes the heat rising was enough to get the cockroaches to bail, but this time into the pot of food you'd been stirring. That was it. Dinner in the bin. No matter how hungry you were you weren't eating that.

I'd imagine that the fabric would have a maximum capacity and that once reached it would be swapped out with more fabric while the oil-soaked fabric would be taken away, heated, have the oil extracted, and then be re-used later.
It says that the fabric is re-usable and it would defeat the purpose if ambient temperature was enough to release the oil captured.

+8 39. Urmensch commented 9 years ago on video Would You Help A Lost Child?

Granko is trying to make an important point that not all paedophiles offend against children. There are what are called non-offending paedophiles, and the demonisation of all paedophiles makes it hard for these non-offenders to get treatment.

Recognising that these non-offenders exist is the first step to supporting them, and helping them achieve what they want, which is a life led without ever giving in to their urges. Just because they have these urges doesn't mean they can't also be moral people.

So yes, they will always be paedophiles. Recognising that is not a first step to permitting any boundaries to be crossed. It is just recognising a fact of life, and hopefully one day it can be treated successfully.

+8 40. Urmensch commented 9 years ago on video Welsh dancing seagull

#4 I think it has made a connection with doing its dance and getting the human to feed it.
Funnily enough, as kids of about 5 or 6, a group of us were playing one of those kid's games where you danced in a ring, singing. Suddenly loads of earthworms started to come up in the ring. We all totally thought we had magical powers.

At home later my uncle, who was well-read about the natural world, explained how the worms came up because the vibrations were like rain and so they didn't drown. I remember being a little disappointed it wasn't magic, but it was softened when he explained how birds learned to do it to fool the worms and eat them, and I thought that was really cool.
It is one of the few memories I have of that age.

Modern scholarship puts the invention of the wheel in ancient Sumer.
No other culture came up the the wheel independently, but they borrowed it from other cultures who themselves borrowed it. It spread to the rest of us by diffusion.

The only other civilisation that got close to it was the ancient Mexicans, and they only used them in what were either toys or cult objects.

A smarter question would be why did the sub-Saharan Africans not borrow the idea of the wheel like all the rest of us did. But that question wouldn't be an implicit slur on the intelligence of sub-Saharan Africans.

And then we put in this cabinet." (He says 'we bob it in' which is probably a regional variation of 'pop it in').

"If you just look inside there's a couple of waterproof heaters, and it keeps this box at 25 degrees. So the seed stays in here for two days, until it sprouts, when we throw it out,"(here he says what sounds to me like, 'it's just sprutting off when we throw it out' which again would just a variation of sprouting), "we call it cotton wool balls. We put it on the pitch and you can see grass growing in three days."

#5 But the German design was for people to examine their shit before flushing to ascertain their health. Because so much pork was eaten and hygiene standards weren't as they are today intestinal worms were a regular problem. It made it easier to see the wrigglers. Then they had lots of quack ideas about the consistency, etc.

It might stop splashes but you do suffer the smell more as it isn't going into the water, and then it never really flushes clean needing a toilet brush and second flush. I was told to put tissue on the shelf by the people I stayed with so you were more sure of getting it to flush away.

Erica Jong wrote a book Fear of Flying, where she said 'German toilets are really the key to the horrors of the Third Reich. People who can build toilets like this are capable of anything.' ;)

So, I prefer ours over the German style, especially if you have to lay some toilet roll in there anyway.

Black Americans were nearly four times as likely as whites to be arrested on charges of marijuana possession in 2010, even though the two groups used the drug at similar rates, according to new federal data.

Just this one statistic points to endemic racism in the Justice system.

It is only if you presume an equal playing field that you can take seriously crime statistics. That presumption is not warranted.
How much white-collar crime goes unpunished? How many of the faces of all those bankers that flushed the economy through dodgy dealings were black?

One RAND Corporation study found that convicted African-Americans were more likely than whites to go to prison. And their sentences were longer. “This disparity,” the study concluded, “suggests that probation officers, judges, and parole boards are exercising discretion in sentencing or release decisions in ways that result in de facto discrimination against blacks.” De facto means the discrimination exists in fact, but without legal authority. It may not be intentional.

+2 179. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Limits to Growth: Bacteria in a Bottle

Even though in the media they keep harping on about how the world will have to be able to deal with a much larger population in years to come we have been experiencing the most rapid decline in global population growth ever.
It isn't like that in all places, as in Sub-Saharan Africa. There the population is expected to double by 2050 and possibly quadruple by 2100.

By 2020 the relative population growth worldwide is in line to be just 1%, and if it follows this pattern it will be down to 0.5% in 2050.

If the video was an analogy to Earth's population, which it seems to be given the planet being used as an image then our growth is not exponential. A growth of 0.5% in population is what we had in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Picture of Urmensch44 achievements

+2 180. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Limits to Growth: Bacteria in a Bottle

#3 You are taking that 0.5% figure for population growth in 2050 and using that as a projection for the next 139 years. Yet I wrote that from 2020 with a 1% growth increase, it will have dropped to 0.5% in 30 years. See the problem with that?

The Earth's resources are being over-exploited by a small proportion of the population. It is consumerism that is the greater threat, and not the actual population.
The US outstrips all others in this category.

“With less than 5 percent of world population, the U.S. uses one-third of the world’s paper, a quarter of the world’s oil, 23 percent of the coal, 27 percent of the aluminum, and 19 percent of the copper,” he reports. “Our per capita use of energy, metals, minerals, forest products, fish, grains, meat, and even fresh water dwarfs that of people living in the developing world.”

The fossil fuel consumption of the average American is double that of the average Briton. It is 2.5 times that of the average Japanese. With only 5% of the population it produces half of the solid waste of the whole world.

So the planet would be soon doomed if this profligacy was to become a worldwide pattern. But this pattern was laid before we truly understood how we were pushing up against the limits of what the planet can support. Even granted the climate-change deniers, the understanding that we need to act in a more sustainable manner is being acted upon.

Again though, I will restate my original point which has been ignored. The analogy between the exponential growth of bacteria and the population growth of humans is a false analogy. Human growth is not exponential.

#9 There is absolutely no evidence that anyone has suffered any harm from GMOs. None. No matter what the activists will tell you. There have been thousands of independent trials to show that. The few trials that seemed to show harm were badly done, and often funded by the organic industry. For them, one way they can convince people to spend more money on their products is by convincing people that the cheaper products that are produced by their competitors are harmful.

If you get sugar from GM beets it is chemically identical to sugar from non-GM beets. The same with oil from GM and non-GM oil.
Genetic modification is just a breeding method. The products of the genetically engineered plants are identical, and treated exactly the same by the body.

This statement doesn't make sense. There's no conscious being in a decomposing brain, so saying 'for a conscious being' isn't coherent. Long before a brain has become homogeneous ooze there is no consciousness, and there would still be too much structure in the ooze to say it is in equilibrium as is meant in physics.

#3 Evolution is both a fact and a theory. And theory here means the scientific sense, which is an explanation or model based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning.
It has been tested and confirmed as a general principle helping to explain and predict natural phenomena.
Not theory as used in the non-scientific sense.

Abiogenesis is the origins of life from non-life, and it isn't the same as evolution. Abiogenesis has not been observed nor replicated yet, sure.
This is nothing to do with evolution being called a theory. If abiogenesis were demonstrated beyond doubt we would still talk about the theory of evolution. Because the fact of evolution is observed all the time. Antibiotic resistance, or the way the 'flu mutates are observed facts.
The theory part is which mechanisms gave rise to what. Then you get into natural selection, sexual selection, kin selection, genetic drift. These are all mechanisms that can drive evolution.

There is so much propaganda around so called natural foods that people are led to believe that chemicals are bad. When in reality everything is a chemical, even water.

You can avoid additives by cooking everything at home. But if a company wants a food to survive freezing and thawing, perhaps a number of times during transport, and try to keep the nutritional values stable then additives are the only answer to that.

So given that the ratio of men to women is about one to one, worldwide it was 102 males to 100 females, you promulgate a doctrine that says all men should marry, they should have up to four wives, there is no sex outside of marriage and homosexuality is an abomination. Then go around claiming that Islam is the most rational religion.

I remember reading a book by a Moroccan woman scholar about how the reality of these ideas impacted society. Even without the polygamy the separation of the genders meant that boys had no outlet for sex except among themselves. But the macho culture and homophobia meant they couldn't have sex with other boys without loads of baggage. Huge guilt around sex. Younger boys being targeted by older boys. Lots of bestiality. She recounted stories of these religious leaders running radio programs with people ringing in with their confessions. Boys fucking farm animals. Fucking each other, and then feeling like sinners. But the fact is they are set up to fail. And then they grew up and became obsessed with purity. She believed that the situation they were put into during puberty ensured they would end up doing stuff that was haraam, or forbidden, and then they'd flip in later life and tend to become unforgiving and dogmatic and blame everything except their religion for their woes.

+1 211. Urmensch commented 11 years ago on video Experiment shows how warm and cold water interact.

Muslims like to point to this phenomenon and say that the Quran has scientific knowledge. It only shows their ignorance of the Babylonian myths that were first plagiarised by the Jews to create Genesis, and the Jews were plagiarised by Mohammed in the Quran.
In the Babylonian myth, in the beginning there was only Apsu, the sweet water ocean and Tiamat, the salt water ocean. Apsu was male and Tiamat was female. The god Marduk, one of the children of Tiamat, killed her and split her into two. The upper half of Tiamat was fixed onto the sky to keep the waters above in place.

This myth was an attempt to explain the origin of salty water in the sea, and sweet water that fell from the sky and formed rivers. The idea was that there was a sweet water ocean above, separated by 'the firmament' and this ocean was the source of rain.
Marduk was the first to separate the waters above from below. Then he created the sun, the moon, the planets and the stars. Finally man was created. The Jews stole the story and claimed their god did it, only to have the Arabs claim it later on behalf of their god Allah, as #7 shows in the quote.

#16 A fallacious ad hominem argument is one that attempts to substitute evidence against the person for evidence against the position.

This is what your have done here by immediately dissing the source instead of substance of the report.
You then post a right-wing leaning site to say a left-leaning site isn't a trustworthy source. Yet nothing on that link has any relevance to this issue.

It is the evidence that really matters, and not the source.

"I have watched the entire videos and the PP people are very careful in the words they use to obfuscate the business they are conducting. There is no doubt about what they are doing which is why Congress is investigating them , and they have also watched the entire videos."

Or they are clarifying their position against the obvious attempts of the video makers to get answers they can twist into the appearance of illegal organ trafficking, which was the whole intention of this.

They state they are not selling the tissues, but just recuperating the costs of the tissue donations. You are looking to poison the well, so you project onto them.

http://www.corporationwiki.com/p/2fj933/teshome-debela

That link shows that there is a company, one of whose directors is Aldean Mohamed, and that name came up in reports as the uncle, and not the father of the boy. The company's address is 8585 N Stemmons Fwy Dallas, TX 75247

Go there on Google maps and guess what you find? The premises of the business are in a building called Twin Towers.

So if you really want to reach, you're going to have to claim that the uncle opened a business in a place with twin towers, called Twin Towers, in order to mock 9/11.

As far as I can make out, it's all wandering into nutjob illuminati conspiracy country, but with Muslims.

Edit: I took out a url I'd added for the Twin Towers because it borked the comment and didn't work. To confirm what I say just use that address in Texas in Google maps and you'll even get photos of the place.

Even organic seeds are often patented.

The real reason people buy seed is because the seeds you buy are hybrids produced so you can be sure of a consistent harvest. If you keep these seeds and grow them again the next year sexual reproduction will have shuffled the genes so the new crop will not breed true.

Long before GM crops seeds were produced from hybrids, and new seed was bought every year because it is beyond what most farmers can do, as well as run a farm.

"and those patent holders restrict reseeding harvested seeds by non gmo patent holders"
That's just bullshit.

+1 235. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Inside the Svalbard Seed Vault

#13 "In a unanimous opinion written by Justice Elena Kagan, the Supreme Court ruled that Bowman's conduct infringed upon Monsanto's patent rights and that the doctrine of patent exhaustion does not permit a farmer to reproduce patented seeds through planting and harvesting without the patent holder's permission."

You wrote, ""and those patent holders restrict reseeding harvested seeds by non gmo patent holders""

Writing non-gmo patent holder when referring to Bowman is nonsense. The patent holder is Monsanto. Bowman is not any kind of patent holder. He is just a farmer who tried to grow a patented seed variety without licence. A farmer having a licence to plant seed is not the same as being a patent holder.

Of course farmers can save their seeds. As long as they aren't doing so illegally like Bowman. If he wants Monsanto's seeds then let him buy a licence. If he doesn't want to buy a licence then he has plenty of other options.

+1 236. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Inside the Svalbard Seed Vault

#15 Often people don't really know the whole story if they only go by what the anti-Monsanto crowd tell them.
For example Monsanto spent $1.7 billion in 2014 on research and development. Roughly half of that was spent on traditional plant breeding. Think about it. Who would want to buy seed if it was only bred to resist a herbicide?
"Hi there. We've developed a new strain of corn. It tastes like ass, but you can use herbicide on it and it won't die!"
Farmers aren't stupid. They want the good breed of plant plus the herbicide resistance. That means they can use less herbicide and get a higher yield from the seed they sow.

In order to continue to invest in R&D to create the good strains they have to get a return on their investment. Patents were invented to protect innovation. The system isn't perfect, but farmers are making good profits even after paying the licence.
If there were no patents then there would be no incentive to develop new, and better strains of crops, and the farmers would lose out.
Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation that comes from the Greens on this. They may mean well, but in my opinion they are wrong on many fronts, and I've seen them deliberately continue to spread lies they've been called out on.

It would be like someone making a documentary about evolution but only giving the creationists a voice.

People who don't understand these issues often end up flocking to others who have misgivings. Then it becomes an echo chamber. What if everything you think you know about Monsanto is a twisted version put out by activists? Because I started out very much like you. But I didn't just take the word of the antis. I went out and looked at the sources myself. And I found that they lie and repeat the same lies.

You can investigate yourself, or just go along with the fearmongers.

+1 238. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Behind the Leather

#5 If you had addressed the charge of cruelty made by PETA directly, as in giving evidence that the skins used are not the product of cruelty, then that wouldn't be a red herring.

The link in the description gives information about animals being skinned alive for example. Cruel by most people's standards. You could have possibly debunked that.

But you didn't. You changed the subject to PETA, and gave examples of how PETA themselves could be seen as cruel. This is the very definiton of a Tu Quoque fallacy, the appeal to hypocrisy. And it is a Red Herring, because you deflected away from the issue, cruelty to animals in order to produce leather goods, to the purported actions of the accusers, PETA.

Even if you were correct about these actions of PETA, as I said above, and even if people would judge PETA employees to have acted cruelly, none of this has relevance as to whether or not the charge of cruelty levelled against the producers of these goods is justified.

Put more simply, the accused can be a cruel asshole even if the one accusing him is also a cruel asshole. Saying the accuser is also guilty is no defence.

+1 239. Urmensch commented 8 years ago on video Does Socialism Makes People Selfish

This showed up in my feed summary, and I thought to myself based only on the title, that this would most likely be Sux2bu.

Fanbois for neo-liberal capitalism, which is the system that has wrought havoc with the worlds economies, always blame the victims of the system and call them leeches.
Many people in middle and low income jobs have barely seen any improvement in their incomes over the past 30 years. While those at the top have become very rich, the disappearance of many middle-paid, skilled occupations and an ongoing squeeze on wages has led to a poorer, more divided Britain . In 2006, nearly 3% of the population had zero or negative wealth (defined as all household goods and possessions including cars and owner-occupied houses after deducting financial liabilities), while 10% had less than £7,390. The richest 10% was more than 100 times as wealthy as the poorest 10%! Low income workers have seen their pay rise by 27% in real terms over the past 30 years but rises for the top 10% of earners have been four times higher.

Bakers' wages have actually fallen by 1% in the last 30 years, while they fell 5% for forklift truck drivers and 3% for packers and bottlers in the same period. Some unskilled and semi-skilled jobs now pay little more in real terms - and in some cases less- than they did in the late 1970s.

Low pay is now the chief cause of poverty, with the proportion of poor children in working households standing at 61%. There are almost twice as many people now earning a third less than the median compared with 1977. And many workers on low and middle incomes are in white-collar employment (while their parents were more likely to be skilled or semi-skilled manual workers). Despite a much more educated workforce, significant numbers have stagnated in income terms. Indeed, despite often being relatively less well paid than the jobs of the past, and being relatively menial in nature, many of today's middling jobs require much higher qualifications than their equivalents a generation ago.

+1 241. Urmensch commented 7 years ago on video Overpopulation – The Human Explosion Explained

#2 It sets out to explain population growth and demographics and does that well.

I assume you are implying that the populations developing will derail progress by consuming like North Americans. Americans often seek self-fulfillment and status through gaining material items. American culture has set the pace for consumer culture around the world, and it is a pattern we see being followed. Especially among the young of other nations.

The mass production of goods has allowed more people to live more comfortably. There is the downside to it given human nature. When well-being is associated more with the products and services consumed, and status is signalled to others by your ability to consume more, and better quality products than others it would be a disastrous model for developing countries.

While there are those who link economic progress with ever greater consumerism and insist that our success and happiness are predicated on continual economic growth, it is becoming obvious that it isn't sustainable. Not only that, the evidence is that accumulating ever more products and services fuels our fears and anxieties.
When America started out on its path none of us really grasped the consequences.
I don't think it's inevitable that we all will continue along without learning any lessons.

Spent nuclear fuel can now be recycled into mixed oxides that will continue to provide electricity. Solar could be good if they can minimise effects like this and improve efficiency.

#2 When people talk about Green energy they rarely mention that most of this is electricity and that only makes up about one fifth of total energy needs.

"Even put together, wind and photovoltaic solar are supplying less than 1 per cent of global energy demand. From the International Energy Agency’s 2016 Key Renewables Trends, we can see that wind provided 0.46 per cent of global energy consumption in 2014, and solar and tide combined provided 0.35 per cent. Remember this is total energy, not just electricity, which is less than a fifth of all final energy, the rest being the solid, gaseous, and liquid fuels that do the heavy lifting for heat, transport and industry."

#24 All of those links are from the right wing over here. The EDL are like the BNP and just the flip-side of the Muslim extremists here. They're both minority opinions and not representative.
Tommy Robinson was forbidden to enter Tower Hamlets as a condition of his bail. That is supposed to support your claim of no-go zones? Pathetic! One yob's bail conditions!

I live in London, in the middle of an area where 40% of the residents are Bangladeshi origin. Half the staff at my local Tesco are Muslims. All lovely people.
I went to college in the area where Anjem Choudrey tried to stop the restaurateurs, all Muslim, from selling alcohol. He arrived with his gang of yobs, and nobody listened. Just because they put up stickers saying it's a Sharia zone doesn't make it one. The stickers just get taken down. Anjem Choudrey is a clown.

There are no no-go areas. There have been isolated incidents of young Muslim idiots harassing people, but the Muslim communities themselves speak out against this and they are punished for their actions though the legal system.

You are a xenophobic bigot; I am wasting my time with you.
You are just the mirror image of the Muslims who are troublemakers. The irony of it all is that these Muslim twats point to people like you as an example of why they need to keep themselves separate and why they can never trust non-Muslims.
Bigots like you point to these Muslim gobshites and say this is why we can't trust any Muslims.

Except for one newspaper all the links are to websites with agendas. The one newspaper you link to is known as The Daily Heil here, because they supported the Nazis and Britain's fascists and have never really changed.

All of this is old news here, and nothing came of it. On the off-chance that you are more open-minded than your comments suggest, and not a bigot but just ill-informed then I'll link to a relevant humanist post that is more balanced.

Just as people don't get killed in order to supply organs for transplant, these abortions aren't happening to supply organs for medical research. Abortion is legal. Going on to then use the tissues to advance medicine is not an issue for me, or many others.

It's especially funny that conservatives who will go on and on about the wonders of capitalism will then squeal about the economics of abortion. Of course there is going to be a money aspect to this. Keeping tissues viable is not going to happen by putting them into your domestic refrigerator. It needs to be handled, stored and transported properly.

Talk of baby parts is just emotive bullshit. This tissue is from foetuses long before there is any brain activity that is even remotely capable of supporting consciousness.

#5 From the evidence, our Universe is a closed system. No energy is being injected into it. Therefore the second law of thermodynamics applies.
Entropy will increase, with the number of new stars being created slowing relative to the old stars dying, until eventually all the stars will die out.

As to black holes creating new universes, that is possibly true. That would not give a new lease of life to this universe. It would be the beginning of a new different universe.
Who knows, if we survive long enough and our knowledge increases we might find a way to escape our dying universe into a new universe, provided we find one that has physical constants that allow us to exist. It is possible that matter would be different. What if there is no such thing as oxygen in the new universe?

As to not needing stars to survive. All the complex forms on Earth only exist because the Sun is bathing us in highly ordered energy, which plants use to grow, which plants are eaten by animals, etc.
We have never travelled away from a star, only hopped from one body orbiting a star to another. I don't know where you got that idea.

The monkey is intentionally using the stone as a tool. Chimpanzees use wooden tools like spears and to get at ants so we probably can say that our common ancestor did so too.

Early humans probably made sharp-edged flakes for quite a while before realising they could be used to cut. It is about 2.6 millions years ago that bones with marks of butchering show up alongside flakes of stone. Used by hominids with relatively small brains.

This was during a period of climate change in Africa when habitats were altering. Overcoming our lack of tearing teeth and claws by making stone substitutes would have opened up new food opportunities. The first to use this innovation would have had a real advantage.

#6 Your characterisation of the situation is down to your worldview, that there is a creator, and that scientists find this idea unpalatable which leads them to invent a story that doesn't need a creator. That's what I get from your comment; correct me if I'm wrong.

I was giving you the scientific definition of theory, and explaining that when you said, "Even Richard Dawkins can't explain that spark of life that caused everything to get started, that's why it is called the "theory" of evolution.", you are mistaken.

Let me put it this way. Say we one day got good evidence that life began on this planet by an act of an intelligence, ignoring who that might be, then evolution would still be a fact, and the mechanisms of evolution would still be exactly those that operate without abiogenesis. There is imperfect replication over generations, and that allows changes to build, and those changes can make organisms more or less suited to their environments. Environments are always changing too over that time.
That intelligence would have created life that would evolve, because that is what all the evidence shows. Regardless of what creationists might claim.
It is projection on the part of creationists. They are the ones with the pre-existing belief that they wish to immunise from facts, and thus they reject evolution.

Ken Miller is an American cell biologist and molecular biologist who believes in God and understands that the variety of life is a product of evolution. There are many scientists like him who don't see it as an either / or choice.

Here is a list of things conservatives claimed when Obama was elected:
Not an American citizen.
Living under an alias.
A secret Muslim.
Working with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Never went to Harvard or Columbia since none of his classmates recalled him being there.
Ordering authorities to keep his transcripts sealed to hide the fact he’s lying about his education.
Capable of forging two forms of his birth certificate.
Going to use FEMA camps to round up Republicans.
Going to confiscate guns.
Anti-American.
Going to outlaw Christianity.
Waging a war on Christmas.
Changing the Constitution so he could run for a third term.
A dictator.
Someone who hated white people.
Took his Oath of Office on the Koran.
A socialist/Marxist/communist.
Anti-capitalism.
Faking jobs reports and lying about the unemployment rate.
Using a military exercise to declare martial law to confiscate guns.
Allowing terrorists to come to the United States to kill Americans.
Literally the anti-Christ.
Using the Affordable Care Act to set up death panels to kill Americans.

Let's not try to make out that conservative reactions to Obama were rational in the main.

At least liberals are mainly protesting about what is coming out of Trump's own mouth. It's what he has said and continues to say he's going to do that has liberals reacting.

Gaping mouths of baby birds trigger a feeding instinct in parents.

The fish will have become used to being fed on the surface and won't care who does the feeding, the humans or the swans.
Picture of Urmensch44 achievements

-1 299. Urmensch commented 10 years ago on video 2 Black Swan feed Koi fish

The suggestion that the swans are enjoying feeding the fish is not as preposterous as it might seem.

We know that birds and animals have reward circuits in their brains, so when they follow through and respond to stimuli they are 'rewarded' by these circuits in their brains.

Lacking the cognitive ability to know that without feeding them their young will die, evolution solves that problem with instincts triggered by gaping mouths, and rewarding the fulfilling of that desire by stimulating the pleasure centres in the brain of the parents. Without this reward system the parents wouldn't go through the hardships involved in bring up their young.

Humans are activating these same pleasure centres, which evolved for the same reasons in us, by eating foods and use of drugs.

#17 Why the hell should he feel remorse? I've seen those interviews and he plainly says he had no real understanding of what was going on at the time. How would he? When he was old enough to understand what had actually been happening then he didn't feel guilty because he understood that he had no control, and yes, if he hadn't been accompanying his guardian it would still have happened. His being there as a 14 year old child made no difference to what happened one way or the other.

According to your warped understanding his ability to put his childhood experiences into perspective using rational thought and his not being traumatised by them mark him out as evil.

You demonise the Left, and then look for reasons why it is okay to. They're evil and out to undo everything good in the world and change it into some socialist hell-hole.

Or maybe, as the science shows, you are just built that way as a conservative. Conservatives have more tendency to be driven by fear and feel more anxiety when their environment changes.
That would have had evolutionary benefits. Don't trust strangers; Keep doing things as we've always done them because it has kept us alive so far.

You can't help yourself. You're just built that way. Less fear-driven people can understand that sometimes strangers can become friends and change can be for the good. And that it is only some conservatives that demonise the Left to the extent you do, and some on the Left are idiots who don't understand free-speech.

#21 "When Obama won the Presidency conservatives were rightly concerned about the way he promised to fundamentally change the country , which he did to the detriment of the working class , but you did not see conservatives rioting and burning to protest the election, did you."

Actually there were. Plenty. It is just that the targets were different. Blacks, immigrants and Muslims predominantly. And those people are still being targeted now Trump has won.
Liberals attacks have been mainly against property, and the police. That fits with the anti-authoritarian tendencies of liberals and the fear that Trump's election signals an attack on liberal gains.

"More frequently, Obama’s presidency was marked by effigies of our first black president hanging from nooses across the country, for example in Kentucky, Washington State, and Maine, or being burned around the world. What Trump supporters fail to remember is that following Obama’s election, property was destroyed across the country, for example in Pennsylvania, Texas, and North Carolina, and a predominately black church was torched in Massachusetts."

http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/presidential-campaign/305749-republicans-employ-double-standard-to-discredit

So yes, liberals can have those among them who are idiots and act out on their emotions. It happens on both sides. No denying that. The difference between conservatives and liberals is a difference in degree rather than a difference in kind. Under stressful situations liberals can be driven by fear and anxiety. Conservatives have that as their default setting and it doesn't really change.

After Trump won attacks on minorities didn't decrease. The opposite happened. Attacks on minorities rise even when your side wins.

This is all a repeat of history in the US, but then it was the Irish and Italians who were pointed to as the undesirables. Catholicism was explicitly one of the reasons that they were said to be treacherous; that their first loyalty would always be to Rome, a foreign power. Which is why I called bullshit on this attempt to make out it's only about religion. Anti-religious bigotry and racism go hand in hand.

#9 So now you've gone from asking, why "isolated tribes in Africa..." didn't, to "....why a tribe or group of people living in a tree infected area....." Disingenuous.

If you had asked the second version first there wouldn't have been a problem. The first version of the question is a common racist 'gotcha' to cast aspersions on the intelligence of sub-Saharan Africans.

Getting from rollers to wheels is all about the axles. The invention of the wheel happened relatively late, even if it was in the fourth millenium BC. Humans were already casting metals, building canals, sail-ships, and mastering all other manner of technical engineering. It probably had to wait for carpentry to develop, as in metal chisels and woodworking tools. Copper chisels and other such tools are only found from about 4000 BC in the Near East, with the wheel then coming around 3500 BC.

While in hindsight it might seem an obvious development, it was challenging enough that the evidence is it only happened once and then spread by diffusion.
So when people ask why didn't so and so invent the wheel, the implicit assumption seems to be that all of us who use the wheel invented it independently. We didn't.

#5 What idiocy. Another fool who gets his idea of what a liberal is from Youtube.

Liberal doesn't equal left-wing, and most of what you describe, abortion, and assisted suicide, are supported by left-wing people on the basis of the rights of the person. Right-wingers created the strawman that it is for population control.
Mexico, Iran and China have been great supporters of eugenics, and they aren't liberal nations. The Nazis were not liberals, and theirs was most definitely a eugenics project in great part. Ideas about improving the health of the nation have come in many forms. Among the left-wing it has been behind the creation of welfare programmes.

Right-wingers who want to outlaw abortion and contraception explicitly admit that they believe women should submit to their ideas about reproduction, mainly religiously based, but also ideologically secular in some parts.
Anti-reproductive choice policies in Central and Eastern Europe go hand-in-hand with nationalist tendencies and ideas of ethnic purity in many of these countries.

These are based on demography arguments. One example, birthrates are very low in Central and Eastern Europe, and, in an attempt to increase birthrates, women’s reproductive rights are being restricted.
They want to increase population in their own countries so they don't suffer economically in the future, but don't want to increase it by allowing in immigrants.
They aren't worried about over-population. Exactly the opposite. They only want Johnny Foreigner to restrict their birthrate while forcing the women of their own countries to have more children than they want. If they can force women out of the workplace and back into the home then all the better.

Trying to dress this up as a struggle against evil liberals who just want to control population is laughable.

#3 Yes, the correlation is between education and family size. But that doesn't rule out health.
There is a lot of evidence that through the teaching of literacy, numeracy, and other academic subjects, schooling transforms general intelligence into higher-order cognitive skills. These skills promote risk assessment and decision making abilities related to health.
It is education that allows people to live healthier lives, part of which is managing family size. You can't then dismiss making people healthier by itself.

Cats are not 'torturing' their prey; they are responding to their instincts. They are stimulated by certain types of movement. If you hide you hand under a cloth and move it as a small animal would it stimulates the same response. The cat isn't smart enough to comprehend it's your hand and will attack.

The biting, batting and biting again is part of the cat's repetoire of hunting tactics. Many of the animals they hunt bite back. They tire out their prey with bites and such before moving in for the kill. Cats who are fed may get what they need to eat, but the instincts to hunt are just as much a need that they seek to satisfy. In these circumstances they may keep this behaviour up longer, but not out of a need to cause pain and suffering, which they wouldn't even be capable of understanding, but just because they are responding to the need for stimulation. Just as when they act out their disembowelling actions on a teddy bear, the fact it isn't alive doesn't matter.

Dogs will also slaughter a whole nest of rabbits because it stimulates them, just as they will chase and worry sheep until the sheep drop dead.

It is projection to say cats and dogs are being cruel in these circumstances as they don't have the cognitive capacity to understand their actions in such terms.
Trapping and shooting cats on the other hand, if done out of animus against them because they are believed to be 'cruel' is wrong. It is likely an excuse for the humans to act on their own cruel urges and excuse it by making out cats somehow 'deserve it'.

#19 The one thing really noticeable about all that was that you didn't offer one piece of evidence for these no-go zones in Britain. Go on. I'll wait.

You also ignore the link about how good the healthcare offered by the NHS is.

Stick to that first, and don't try to wriggle out of it by changing the subject to Iraq.

A little off topic, but is Vlaams part of the Netherlands?
As I understand it, the Netherlands is Holland and some other areas.

#5 That 'Islam isn't a race, therefore there's no racism' is such bullshit. Islam now functions as a racial proxy.
The guy in the video actually says she should go back to where she comes from!
All the Far-Right parties are anti-Muslim. There is anti-Muslim bigotry and race hatred because the vast majority of Muslims are not European by origin. European converts are even called race traitors by the racist parties like Britain first, because they're too stupid to keep it up the pretence it is only about radical Islam. Calling White converts to Islam 'race traitors', which I heard personally, is a pretty glaring sign that it isn't just religious bigotry.

The rise of radical Islamism has been an opportunity for nativist racists to become more vocal. Just as this video's concentration on her being Muslim isn't just about her as a person who is engaged in criminal acts. It is meant to reflect on all Muslims.
Don't blather on about how this isn't racist when the guy tells her to go back where she comes from!

Sux's is quite obviously a bigot towards Muslims, and a racist to boot. His posts previously have included videos about the Muslim 'onslaught' in places like Sweden, as an example about the dangers of immigration. All the classic fodder from sites like Stormfront and their ilk.

I guessed this time that Sux's posted this when I saw the title in my feed. And I was right, as I have been before.

#8 "Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Practically everyone on this site is missing a massive point here. A section of Australia has basically been taken over by a relgion Islam, that is not okay!!! Would a Christian sect be able to take over a section of Saudi Arabia?"

Why the fuck do people compare the western liberal world with Saudi Arabia?! Saying that if it isn't allowed in Saudi Arabia then we in the western world shouldn't allow it is frankly ridiculous.

I live in London, in a community where a good 1/3 are Bangladeshi Muslims. They run many of the businesses. They are the predominant staff in my local Tesco's and Sainsbury's. They are peaceful, respectful people who bother no one.

I moved to London from Ireland in the mid '80s, when the IRA were bombing the British mainland and I experienced the exact same abuse, both physical and verbal, that Muslims get today. If you had asked nearly any Irish person what they thought about the actions of the British in Northern Ireland they would have agreed on many points with the IRA. Exact for attacks on civilians and terrorism on the mainland. If you actually knew Muslims well you would understand that it is the same for them. They don't like American foreign policy, but don't believe in terrorism.

Sux2bu has form for spreading this stuff. Years back he was spreading anti-Muslim videos, all along the same lines of there being no-go areas in Europe, and London was part of it. But I was working and living in areas that were supposed to be no-go areas. He never took anything I said on board, and when challenged for sources he linked to racist websites, and racist tabloid rags like the Daily Mail.

And this bullshit about not talking about what Christians did hundreds of years ago?! The Germans who build Auschwitz were Christians. They went to the anti-Semitic writings of Martin Luther to support their Jew hatred. Jew hatred in Christianity, like it is in the Quran, all comes down to the Jews never accepting Christianity first, and then Islam.

The rise of the far-right all over Europe is against a background of Christianity. I know this personally as I have a Polish partner, speak Polish, and have had to be warned to not speak my mind around certain people when in the country, for fear of repercussions against my partner's mother. These are Catholics.

It is American evangelicals who funnel millions upon millions every year to the State of Israel, because they believe one day Jesus will come back and the final war will happen there. They are the ones who influence American policy there.
Like with the Irish against the British Government, I understand how terrorists can recruit from among the young.

I understand how the actions of a small part of a community can have devastating effects on the rest of the community. I lived in Belfast before coming to London, where British soldiers would stop and search you at any time. Where a pub I was in was attacked by a Protestant mob because Catholics and Protestants drank together. Where the IRA would kneecap people involved in drugs up in Northern Ireland, making a show of being moral guardians, while being the main importers and dealers of drugs in the Republic of Ireland.

So often it is Americans whose fear-mongering on their own continent for political reasons gets echoed by racists in Europe. I can't count the number of times I've argued with bigots about the situation in Europe and all their sources for information are Americans, none of whom ever seem to have even been to Europe, never mind lived here.

Fascinating, though I don't know about electicity being used for sinus, back problems and migraine. Seems to just be a throwback to the time they though electricity was kind of magical.
