That is a DOUBLE somersault. The ball gives him the extra height to do it.

Adding to my previous comment.

It is very unlikely that one rope would fail. However, that depends on the fall factor, length of the fall, weight of the climber, and how many times the fall is repeated. Climbing ropes are rated for a certain number of falls, based on a fall factor of 1.78. Keep doing it over and over again, even with less severe falls, and they WILL snap.

#16: Yes, there is a neutral force or dimension which transcends and is also creating space and time. By this neutral force/dimension space and time can be traveled instantly. All exist in one, and again are many, depending on the point of view, condition, or phase.

The goose is obviously smarter and faster than the guy in the kayak.

The goose took him out very quick! The guy never saw it coming. In fact, if you look closely, the goose waited for his moment just right. The guy looks at the goose, just before the goose attacks him. The goose waited until he turned around again. The goose was very clever. The goose was totally in control during the takedown into the water. The guy is lucky the goose decided to let him go.

Organs inside the human body start to shear apart at around 1300 ft-lbs.

This has been known for many years, through cadaver studies conducted by the US Air Force.

So even if the harness stops the climber, his/her body will keep going internally - i.e., shearing apart internally. That is why medical researchers at OHSU have been concerned about the longterm health of bungee-jumpers, for example. Micro-tears in their hearts were discovered, and the longterm effect of these tears are unknown, at least at the time of this particular research - which I believe was approx. 15 years ago.

It looks like they are using standard perlon climbing rope. Nylon 6. 11mm.

Using two ropes will make the stop at the bottom of the fall twice as abrupt, which means that the climber will feel it twice as hard at the harness contact points. The two ropes could wrap around each other, or the climber could get his/her neck caught between the ropes. Will let you think about that. See comment by #18. It is very unlikely that one rope would fail. Using two ropes introduces more danger, and doubles the stopping force, which means that all points of the rigging see twice the loads, including the anchor, and the climber, harness, attaching hardware, slings, etc.

There are other possibilities in their rigging which could lead to an accident.

Life is more precious and deserves more respect than doing stupid stunts like this. Not impressive. And yes, I have done many high angle stunts. No point to taking this kind of risk.

#31:

The stopping force is the same on the anchor as it is at the end of the rope. Doubling the ropes does increase the stopping force by a factor of two, because the falling person will stop in half the time.

If a steel cable was used rather than 11mm nylon climbing rope, it would likely kill the climber from the high stopping force, and also likely cause the anchor to fail from the extremely high loads, unless the steel cable snaps first...

#(removed comment):
I did not say it was a 'gallows drop'. Calculating the stopping force requires a differential equation. Yes, there is a drop, followed by a swing motion, which transmits some of the fall energy into those vector components. There have been some deaths due to rope jumps. Dan Osman, Bobby Tarver, there may be others.

The buck could easily gore the man's eyes out and gore his face with his antlers. Or he could go for the family jewels! And toss him in the air! It could happen in a heartbeat.

Very foolish and dangerous on the man's part.

The buck could turn on him at anytime.

This is not funny, and in fact this is unacceptable behavior, sticking a gun in someone's face. This person appears to be a control freak, and very likely has more serious psychopath tendencies.
