What could possibly go wrong?!? Just a few thousand spectators very close to a daredevil suicidal idiot playing with a motorized set of 15meter blades rotating fast enough to lift another idiot from the ground with tons of metal and highly flamable fuel... Very safe!

#5 If there is more chain HANGING on the descend (not in contact with the ground) it is actually heavier (more chain, more mass).
The chain is faster when launched from higher because it has more travel to the ground. Then there is more time to accelerate from the G force. There is no free fall here. All links of the chain are interconnected.
I believe the loop only occurs because of the rigidity of this particular type of chain. You could not replicate this effect with another more common type of chain.
