2. zevvv commented 5 years ago on video Wasp killing machine
Like with ants, different wasps have different roles in the colony. He likely killed all the soldiers first, as they were trying to protect the nest against this strange threat. The remaining wasps are likely to be of the nursing kind, and do not attempt to attack and defend.

5. zevvv commented 6 years ago on video Highest Jump Into a Pool Ever Filmed
A bold claim in the title.
There is 2.3 seconds beween the moment his hands left the platform until he touched the water. 0.5*G*t^2 gives a height of approximate 25 meters, which is quite likely given 27 meters is a standard height for high diving sports.
10 seconds search on youtube leads to a 52 meters dive in a pool: title debunked.

Seen from the American perspective. As an European, most of these serving sizes seem perfectly reasonable to me. Who the hell wants to put that much peanut butter on her sandwich anyway?

7. zevvv commented 9 years ago on video Insurance Scammers are Awesome!
At first these videos look funny - and some of them just are.
On the other hand: what kind of troubled lives do these people live, when throwing themselves in front of a moving car seems like a reasonable way for them to get out.
My guess is that they did think of possible consequences, but there were simply not much alternatives left for them. Hurting someone else to get money is easy, but hurting *yourself* - with a real risk of dying - is never your first choice.

I guess locusts must be pretty high on proteine, and are probably even ok to eat. I wonder if the affected people take advantage of this by capturing and eating them?

11. zevvv commented 9 years ago on video LIFTED
Yeah, there's always one to spoil the party. Let it be me:
"Last year, MEG scanners at the universities of Glasgow, London, Oxford and Cambridge were all affected by shortages of helium. “We increasingly face regular periods of forced shut-down of our multimillion-pound facility because of these difficulties, and we are told the problem will only get worse,” said Mark Stokes, a cognitive neuroscientist at Oxford’s Centre for Human Brain Activity."
Even though helium is the second most common element on Earth, only a finite amount is available for use and this store is non-renewable. Some experts suggest supplies could be depleted by the middle of the century.

One plasma TV, anyone can do that. But *four* of them, that's spectacular.

23. zevvv commented 10 years ago on video Stradivari Viola
In the equivalent of a blind taste test, 10 "renowned" violinists tended to prefer new violins over Stradivarius violins after playing them without being able to see them, a new study has found.
These instruments are famous for the quality of sound they produce. However, the many blind tests from 1817 to the present have never found any difference in sound between Stradivari's violins and high-quality violins in comparable style of other makers and periods, nor has acoustic analysis.

34. zevvv commented 12 years ago on video Homemade Synthesizer
I'm pretty sure this comment will be rated negative in a minute or two, but I'm afraid I have to say there is very little chance the thing is for real. Randomly soldering some wires in old stuff like a VCR is *not* going to result in a functional synthesizer.
The pickups in cups and glasses sensitive to moving your fingers around are higly unlikely.
Building a synth is hard enough as it is, let alone a polyphonic synth like shown here.
I call it 'fake'.
Prove me wrong.

39. zevvv commented 13 years ago on video Very deep hole ...
So, if my calculations are right, this hole would be over 600 meters deep.
It took 12 seconds from throwing the rock until it was heard falling on the bottom. That would be
0.5 * G * t^2 = 0.5 * 9.81 * 12^2 = 706 meters.
But from such a deep pit it takes the sound a few seconds to reach the top all the way from the bottom, so subtract a second or so to take that in account.
Still leaves an incredibly deep pit, can this be real ?

64. zevvv commented 15 years ago on video How to turn water into balls
Sorry to inform you, but this video is a hoax. The balls are simply made of plastic with the same diffraction index as water. This causes them to be virutally invisible under water, and show up as soon as they are lifted out of the liquid.
Also, there is no such thing as 'polar hability'.
If still not conviced, try to explain why all the balls would be of the exact same size, and why the bal falling out at 02:31 is happily bouncing around the table.
