Interesting analogy, I'll stick to my 10 digits though thank you very much

Now do a fifth in Duodezimal. It's 0.24972497....

#4 Or you can be Babylonian and have base 60 and be able to have a nice division against 5.

100% agree with #1

I think I stay ignorant in this topic. I assume if I would be risenin this system I would be a fan of it. I am an engineer, I like too to dived numbers with 3 and 4 with out some decimals. So what do I (we) do? We make lenghts who easaly devides with twelve. Steps or elements with size of 1200, 2400, 3600, 4800, 6000mm and so on are common to see.

I think that 100% should be replaced by 2520%, meaning that 1 = 2520%.
The reason being that 2520 is the smallest number that can be divided by 1-10.
Very convenient if you think about it.
No more 33.3333...% and so on.

#14 That would depend on what they do. I think base2 (binary) would still be the system of choice for programmers... even though base16 (hexadecimal) is widely used for color definition (god save CSS coders ^^)...
So let's do a short summary:
- By narrator's admission, this new system would do (close to) nothing for mathematics in general;
- All advantages would impact pretty much only elementary school kids;
- Two new symbols would have to be introduced and distributed (talk about messing up ASCII);
- One of the newly introduced symbols would be constantly mistaken for our favorite variable "x", while the other one would collide with the small epsilon, which is also employed in mathematics (most common used in calculus);
Somehow, this system appears to focus greatly on teaching basic mathematics to kids, which is an amazing thought, but somewhat disregards other levels/branches of mathematics, defeating the whole purpose of numeric system choice...

#21 no dude, #4 is right. you cant convert lover part of the fraction and leave the upper part, thats an insignificant math flaw. you may check it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duodecimal .belowly there is a huge table about this.
by the way the whole argument is not so necessary to contuniue.
computers thinks binary is better for them and they convert each calculation for us! there is no problem. if someone thinks this is easier, i dont mind them using it as long as they convert it to rest of the humankind. i cant imagine some one making his homework whit it without converting, definete F would the result. end of the argument.

In the real world, smart people use centimeters and kilograms, not inches and pounds
You just add a 0 at the end with a metric system ... what is simpler than that?

I use base 1.2, I use my penis and testicles to count.
