#(removed comment) Actually no. When you start early you learn respect and confidence. Those boys will never ever start a fight when they will be grown men.
It's better to start early than when you are 12 y/o and you have anger issues towards bullies or w/e. Cause then you'll gain confidence but not respect.

#(removed comment) Bad parenting is letting your kid(s) loose to do as they please. This is called discipline, something that every child needs no matter the way of delivery it's discipline, and martial arts is an excellent way to channel that.

In martial art lesson kids are exercising, when someone loudly whistles for fon. Lesson stops and teacher asks the one who just whistled to come forward. Everyone is silant and nobady confesses. Teacher asks again . . . still the same reaction till some kid points a finger on the guilty person. Teacher tells ''You stand 5min on your fists for whistling and you stand 5min on your fists for betraying your comrade'' In that manner I was taught in martial ar lesson while I was a kid.
