dang....you'd think with all that money from the passengers they build more train/subway systems.

spook24 - Often on those lines the problem is that they already have trains arriving as often as the system will safely allow. In the middle of the city on some lines trains sometimes run every 2 minutes.

I live in Tokyo at the moment and I haven't seen it that bad before...maybe the trains had been delayed or something. Judging from the colour of the train might be the Chuo line, which runs right into the centre of the city.

@ wtfysc

i dont see your point. whatever the case maybe there are thousands of passengers riding the train/subway in a unsafe matter. i sure the train station can get funding from the govt. some how. all-in-all that many people packed in to a train is very unsafe and they need more trains.

In Moscow during Rush Hour the trains come every minute or less. This video is longer than a minute and the train has already been there a while - I think they should just add more trains

Ummm, instead of pushing people onto the train, how about pulling some people off?

What, don't they know how to say "sorry, but the train is at maximum capacity" over there?

oh my god, I live in the USA (south dakota) where we don't have trains, altough I live in the biggest city in sioux falls. I lived in Germany and I never seen this extreme case. What is a window breaks? Is the train station even considering any potential lawsuits? You try this in that USA and your out of business.

What would happen if they found somebody dead or suffocated?
Picture of wtfysc23 achievements

+5 19. wtfysc commented 16 years ago

cpuomega5 - honestly...everyone else would go about their business and go to work and the dead guy would be carried away and chucked in an ambulance. :|
I'm sure there are exceptions, but having been here (Tokyo) 4 years it seems to me that liability and the law here are not what we know them to be in "western" countries.

Looks fake to me, in NL when there are people standing in the corridor of the train somtimes they even encourage people to get out - and here the personnel is pushing them in?

Also, their queing system doesn't seem to work properly - look at the men that is being squeezed, altough he was in the front of the queue.

And @10, no, the shockwave would only penetrate ~10 centimeters and thus not be very effective

no it's not fake. I've known people who've been in similar predicaments during Seoul rush hour.

what year was this video? you know the train looks old, i've been living in a small city called itami north of osaka, for a few month, never find that kind of problem, there were train run for every 3-5 minutes, if i didnt catch the train at 8:06 you can always go at 8:08 etc, smaller train station has longer interval time (3-10 minutes)

Reading the other comments - I can answer all the questions. Why am I able to do this? Because I took the video! It was stolen and posted here without my name or website. Check out "Actually Full Train" to see where it was stolen from.

Nevertheless - a couple of answers:

The video was taken in 1991, as its original title makes very clear: "Actually Full Train in 1991 (Why Flex Time is a Good Idea)".

No, it was not an unusual situation - it was like that every day! I know because I was usually one of those sardines myself! (Some spots of the train tended to be slightly less crowded but you still had to force your way on).

To whoever posted the video. Please don't steal other people's material! You're welcome to post it by using the code provided, which directs viewers to the site with the proper title, my name, and my website. Just stealing it and posting it this way is wrong.

:S I think the third guy that was squeezed in was having stomach flu and suffering from diarrhea :'(

This video is slightly disturbing, I actually let trains pass if they're too full, which sometimes happens during rush hours; they'll have you stand between the seats and in the hallways...and we're talking double-decker trains, in Holland :S I'd rather wait the extra 30 minutes, or 60 if need be....
You'd never catch me doing something like this to myself, no way 8-)
