Well... Sounds worked fine when I was a kid. Dunno if their IRL enemies would lay down voluntarily ;-)

people might laugh when they see this, but the truth is very sad. This way they won't be prepared at all for a battle they don't even want to fight.

Translation:

[voice-over] For want of sufficient ammunitions, Malian troops have to use their imagination.

[interview]They are pretending the enemy target is right over there, in front. They are trying to get the target. The other squad is coming over to support them and together they will make the objective.
Whereas the other squad that has gone over to the left side, [accent too strong to understand]

[voice-over] This assault made no victims, but the army can't wait to get even after last spring's defeat.

I remember this.... "I got you, you're dead" ... "NO!, you missed, I got you! You're Dead." ... "No, You're Dead... Lay Down!" ... "NO! You Lay Down" ... "YOU LAY DOWN!" ... "YOU LAY DOWN!" .... then someone gets hit with a gun.

I feel [accent too strong to understand] is "Maintenant eux avancent pour marcher sous leurs appuis" which could be traduced as "Now they advance under their support" (they == the first squad)

If you had military training yourself You would know that using imaginary bullets are common practice in certain part of your training. I wouldn't want to know how many victims there would be if you put live rounds on first timers magz.

Learn the basics first (Weapon handling, combat, squad...), even then you'd want to use blanks on that kind of training.

Well from the upside they won't have any "accidental" deaths while training, like we do every so often using live ammo.

#15 We? Are you actually in the military? I am and I don't know the facts off the top of my head but I'd be very surprised if anybody has died in all of the branches in training from a gunshot in the past 10 to 15 years. Heat injury, yes. Falls, probably. Maybe, even heart problems. But a shooting death in training? I've never heard of one. It's not inconceivable but our safety practices are pretty rigorous. Considering how many rounds we put down range in a year the number of incidents of any kind are very low.
