I wonder why it is that the shockwave always seems to start off as a cone and then transforms rapidly in a hemisphere?

#10, i would think it's because of the location of explosion that it starts as a cone. like a ball bouncing of a surface, the shockwaves which would go down bounce back upwards.

the hemisphere shape could be caused by the ammount of air it dislocates and the weigh of that same air pushing it back towards the ground.
