#4 it's not so much that we're dependent on fossil fuels, it's more that we are reluctant to move on.
.. fossil fuels are also solar energy btw, just in a compact prehistorical form.

#9 I was thinking about that too...
They showed the Earth at scale... and judging by the speed of the plasma streams compared to the Earth's diameter I would say the plasma travels at about 1/3 the speed of light.
If this is real-time. :S

#9 #10 While I don't know if this is a normal timescale video or any kind of timelapse; to my limited knowledge matter is able to reach such speeds from these events, so I guess it's plausible that this is indeed shown at a normal timescale. Which makes it even more awesome and spectacular! :O

#9 and #10: It's not in real time. I think I read somewhere that 1 sec in the clip is like 6 min in real time (can't remember, but something like that). But still, the plasma is moving pretty fast!

Edit: Yep, they say it here (in Swedish) http://www.svd.se/nyheter/utrikes/nar-det-regnar-pa-solen_7939608.svd

#12 I guess we should have figured that these instruments aren't made to snap multiple shots per second. :(

Jeez people, think! The Sun could accomodate the Earth 1 million times, imagne its sheer size, of course it is not realtime!

First time where going to youtube to watch a snotr video in 1080p was a bad idea. With so much detail I was looking everywhere except the loop. :D
